One of my colleagues went to Aus a while back. Brought me back a 500g jar of vegimite.

Did not have the heart to tell that only Australian poofters eat that crap.

Vegemite is the poor relation for the former colonies. Marmite is far superior.

Half a kg? That’s a proper mate right there. You’re sitting on a mine of black gold.

It’s really not. I tried some when I moved to Africa and it’s a very poor imitation of the real thing. I threw my marmite away once I got supplies of the real thing.

    Vegemite - 1920s.

    Marmite - 16th century.

So who do you think imitated whom?

Hello Mr Pedantic, itching for martini hour? I think the sun’s over the yard arm already. Get to it and take the edge off, eh?

A few months ago you described a dish looked so good that you would "rape it".

Please point to me when I have ever condoned, suggested or even insinuated that domestic violence or violence against women was ok?

TNY likes pancakes. Ice cream. Chocolate. Breakfast.

2 plus 2 plus 2 plus 2 equals 11 so there was only one thing for it at 11am.

Homemade chocolate chip pancakes with the left over slivers of ice cream from the 10 quart tub she devoured at 3am.

Yee har, there be some grits n gravy n cowboy beans for brunch.

Yes, Daddie's sauce on kippers instead of butter and the lack of a poached egg or two is a little disappointing.

I've mentioned a few times before, but will do again, Robinson's used to stock Waitrose boil-in-the-bag kippers, which I really enjoyed for breakfast but I haven't seen them for years now. I also used to be able to get these for breakfast in a lot of hotels in the UK, but that's not so common any longer.

A slice of buttered brown bread with assorted cheeses and cold cuts and a couple of omelets on top.

With some rather tasty bacon, creamy prawn stuff and pickled beetroot.

2 ginger shots, a smoothie shot and Orange juice I pressed myself.

    Norwegian Hotel breakfast.

    No complaints here.

I thought it looked a bit Norwegian, Dirk.

I'll be there myself in a couple of weeks.

    I thought you might have.

That was the Quality Hotel Waterfront in Alesund.

It had to be a Quality or Scandic hotel, they seem to be the only two choices these days.

Unusual to cc out of Alesund in my experience, if we're working up that way we almost always use Kristiansund. Anyway, have a good trip... if you're working in the Asgard/Midgard areas maybe our paths will cross, I think I'm headed up that way next month.
