Edith came back for lunch, so did her a few satay skewers, thank you Lobo, and a homemade Aussie sirloin mince burger served with an omelette for Eddo after his carby croissant breakie.
They tasted nicer than they looked.![]()
Grumpy Gunther the Swiss koont hasn't noticed or said anything yet.
Will test the waters a bit more. Reckon I could schneak in a propah BBQ slash smoker along the gaza strip of land on the far side of the villa and veranda without him noticing.

Reckon covertly knocking one up outta bricks along the side there wouldn't be too hard, and would keep me out of trouble for a few days.
Build a Brick Barbecue - BBC Gardeners World Magazine
3 Qs.
Do places here sell half bricks for the ends of walls, or cut some of them in half when you buy them?
Special typa heat resistant bricks required, or the normal red bricks are okay?
Wouldn't need much cement, can buy a bag premixed nowadays or ya gotta do the sand/cement/water mix yer self?
^ Looks good...
1. Buy a lump hammer and bolster.
2. You can buy these big bricks for barbecues if you look around. I was recommended this special clay mortar when I first built a barbecue, but it just never went off and was complete bollocks. Just be prepared to occasionally re-cement in the upper course of bricks due to heat brittleness.
3. Mix it yerself, You can add some red powder die to the mortar to make it look more professional (and I hope you appreciate how I managed to avoid a sarcastic and demeaning remark for this one!).
4. No drill required!

if you "knock one up", get a fume hood, extractor fan and 200M of thick walled blue pipe and you can vent it into the scrubland and the Swiss cvnt, becoz they are cvnts will be none the wiser. Or just save yourself the bother and get someone to burn his Villa down.
In answer to your 3Qs, see above
Throw another shrimp on the Barbie… it doesn’t get much more Aussie than this.
Now that is some Shrimp on the barbie there DW. Bet they were delish.
I love the grill. Years back in the states, I made one out a halved 55 gallon drum. Easy to make and I used a drum dolly as the stand this way I could haul off the burned coals. Nowadays, I use LPG and occasionally I toss in some Mesquite chips from a big bag I have for certain meals.![]()
This is a good little guide for using a basic hooded bbq to smoke ribs etc.
How to turn your barbecue into a home smoker | Food | The Guardian
Heat yer coals. When ready, shovel to one side.
Added soaked woodchips, and tray of water above the coals which regulate the temp.
Place ribs on the other side, with a vent open on that side.
Add 6 pieces of burning coals per hour.
Will do a good bit of piddling around with such things.
^ I think the tittle is wrong. It should read " How to increase the carcinogens in your diet"
I'll help you sort the Swiss cheese out
Good man.
Got back home today to see Lil Blackie sitting in the front garden.
Guntz The Kunt must have been sleeping as he'd be all over a pickup truck going past his place delivering something.
Relocated to the Gaza strip along the side.
Nice touch.
Solid as fok.
From a wee home manufacturing place with them out along the roadside.
2k baht delivered.
Cannae beat that.
Saw a bolt-on temp gauge online that I'll have to pickup and stick through the top.
^
That looks an absolute bargain, given its design and apparent build quality. Guess you'll be joining the smokin' and grillin' cheerleaders now?
Swirly baton stolen off the kid.
I presume they've used heat resistant paint. Will find out if I'm as high as a kite after the first sear.![]()
^ Put up a really annoyingly large wind sock in order to accurately determine when the wind direction will ensure Gunther gets to fully appreciate the hickory aromas.
As always the kid wanted to be first.
I do it! I do it!
Sofa so good.
Send that on to Edith.
*girly giggle*
Ed, ya ol' larakin.
Should there not be a flap/cover on that...can you reach up there to wedge something in?![]()
