Nice? That looks the dogs bollocks!
It was quite good. Had with deep fried snake head fish. Probably my 2 favorite dishes outside Nam Tak Moo
I do like a nice Tom yam goong. Paid 15 quid here for a bowl half that size with queen prawns and after spitting the ginger, bamboo? and lemongrass out its a dear game over here that.

^ Might see if the missus fancies a bit of my love sauasge later on.
^ I hope you had better luck than me.
Oh... I mean with my missus of course before there's any misunderstanding.
Speaking of the missus, she plonked this in front of me today for lunch. It may not have been the most photogenic of burgers but everything was in there and it was very tasty. It made a right mess of my shirt as well.

^ Wow, that's a big change from gut soup!
Made another batch of beef and mushroom pies for the freezer this morning, so had the last of a previous batch for lunch, with the obligatory garlic mash and a mix of carrots and peas.
The next batch cooling before going in the freezer.

half portion for me but bigguns for the rest.
^^ That pie looks damn good. And happy to see you posting again, PAG.
You've been missed PAG! Nice pies!
Been doing a lot of batch meals for the freezer recently, and need to use some of it to make room for new. Today was a vegetable soup defrosted along with some homemade bread. I'd also made a batch of bread rolls the other day, so one was rescued to be united with some fried bacon.

^ Nice, RU finding the bud is giving you the munchies![]()
Buns look great PAG.
We spray ours with water and sprinkle black sesame seeds on them followed by another spray of water before sticking them in the oven.
Bake until they just start to brown, less than yours, as they will be frozen and then toasted once required.
Didn't think to take a pic, sorry.
Lang may yer lum reek...
Great page of grub this!
Great looking chowder from Hal, I can imagine having that with some crusty bread.
^
Hal's chowder looks great, but i cant abide crab sticks
Whilst organising my freezer yesterday, came across a ball of raw uncooked pastry left over from previous pie making. Opted to use for some cheese, leek and potato pasties. Started by sauteing the sliced leek in some butter whilst par boiling some small cubed potato.
Once the leek was softened, added to the potato in a bowl, along with a spoonful of Dijon mustard, fresh thyme leaves, seasoning, and some cream.
then small cubes of mature cheddar cheese mixed in.
Making up the pasties, using a side plate as a template for the filling.
Enough pastry and filling for 5 pasties. Pastry cases sealed on the side Cornish style, not on the top. These are egg washed and ready for the oven. Four will go in the freezer, one in the fridge for use as it turned out today.
First thoughts were to have the pasty with baked beans (always a winner), but inspired by Joe's conversion to salad on the side, opted for a coleslaw. Had cabbage, carrot and red onion, just needed to knock up some mayonnaise.
I use a hand whisk to beat the egg yolks and Dijon mustard together, and about half of the oil before switching to an electric whisk. A splash of white wine vinegar at the end along with some more fresh thyme finishes it off.
This will last a couple of days in the fridge.

A very nice from me also PAG!
M'Sahib was heavily into the fridge vegetable drawer this morning, sorting out stuff that need to be used sooner rather than later. Although not quite in that category, a head of cauliflower caught my eye, so cauliflower cheese was on the menu for lunch.
Mixed the florets with some olive oil, grated fresh parmesan and a pinch of cayenne pepper and into a roasting try, then 20 minutes in a hot oven.
Started on the cheese sauce, making the roux with butter and flour.
Gradually added what was a 2 to 1 mix of milk and cream, and simmered for 15 minutes before adding the cheese (a mix of grated and cubed), some mustard powder, and a grind of nutmeg.
Once the cheese had melted into the sauce, poured over the cauliflower, and then topped with a crust of fresh breadcrumbs that had been mixed with more grated parmesan.
Back in the oven for 20 minutes and she's ready.
Keeping the cheese theme, paired with a cheese, leek and potato pasty.
Meanwhile, M'Sahib was in full stir fry mode with her medley of vegetables.
