Sure they gave samples,but they hadn't much choice at that stage, and probably didn't know what it was even
lets wait and see if their dna really matched or not .
If the DNA was from the mafia family , wouldn't they only have to test one to find a few tell tale markers indicating they were looking in the right direction .

they had been in Thailand 3 years - and could not speak Thai.
English ? who knows , they were working in bar , they could have picked some up, maybe with the intention of heading to the west one day.
