Lawyers want DNA tested by UK police
NHRC sending a team to investigate crime scene as suspects retract confession
THE MYANMAR lawyers of the two men charged with the Koh Tao murders of two British tourists have asked Thailand's National Human Rights Commission and the Myanmar Embassy in the Kingdom to push for British police to conduct independent DNA tests in the case, as they believe their clients are innocent.
Myanmar nationals Zaw Rin and Win have retracted their earlier confessions to police. Their lawyers are confident the charges against the two men will be dropped.
The NHRC, meanwhile, is sending a team to examine the crime scene.
The latest twist in the murder case came after Myanmar President Thein Sein asked visiting Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday to ensure a "clean and fair" investigation.
On social media sites, many users refused to accept the result of the police investigation and raised the possibility that the two Myanmar nationals may be scapegoats in the murders of David Miller, 24, and Hannah Witheridge, 23. Their bodies were found on the island on September 15.
Police chief General Somyot Pumpanmuang has insisted many times that police did not frame the accused.
The NHRC is seeking to have forensic experts dispatched to Koh Tao to examine the case in detail.
Pol Maj-General Pavin Pongsirisin, the head of the investigation, said yesterday that he was confident everything was fair and police had submitted all the papers relating to the investigation to the Office of the Attorney-General.

Hi,
I must admit I did see the photos on the Internet. The Injuries on Mcanna's arm do look similar to the wound just under David's jaw. I did think Davids wound was made by a knife before I read the push knife scenario. So hopefully his involvement could be in the way of trying to help them.
What I don't understand is the silence in his possible involvement. Hopefully that is still to come?
Could quite possibly have come from the rescue foundation that attended the crime scene. It's their duty to take photos of their call outs to prove they're doing their jobs and to also drum up donations.Originally Posted by septimus
I think it is apparent to anyone following this case McAnna has nothing to do with it.
Apropos the comments that the appalling depiction of the girl's wounds and her corpse in social media were somehow necessary to galvanise interest, by dint of what reasoning would one argue the photographs added to the description that her face was smashed in by hoes? Are ones's powers of imagination so impaired that one could not envisage the wounds without elaboration?
It was an obscenity, pornography for the vapid and stupid, and nothing else.

^Nor would I. His involvement may be peripheral, but he's involved.
Agree. The link between Sean, his cut, aand David, with the same cut is the probable offender who refused a DNA check and was at the scene of the crime with the police. More than a coincidence that this mans picture taken by Sean saw him with a police man chasing him.
The FCO in London is beginning take this seriously with travel warnings which are stronger than those normally issued.
But at the end of the day the Thai authorities need to find a way of saving face while arresting the real criminals and creditably showing the Thai people and the world that there genuinely is a change in culture and honest transparency in getting the right people prosecuted.
Never before have the Thais themselves been so incensed against the police and the poo mee ithipon. Prayuth could play some strong cards, but will he?
I'll wait and see.
And the hits just keep on coming
McAnna is a hapless pawn of no consequence. He was a bar room fly recruited to foster an ambience among the tourist kiddies who flock to the Samui Archipelago, a role he fulfilled in Koh Tao and Samui. A feckless 20 something strumming a guitar, MC at silly drink fests and a bottom feeder picking up whatever he could.
He's gone now.
The killers are still there. The police have the DNA but we've reached a hiatus now. To spare blushes, the courts will eventually throw out the case against the patsies. The junta cannot lose since they will proclaim justice in Thailand is independent and the aim is true. The police will simply subside and one will wait. DNA is there and so are the killers. Eventually, the time will come when someone is hung out to dry.
McAnna ain't even a footnote.
it had to happen;

^^ He is in it to his eye balls. Pawn, patsy or player remains to be seen.
Possibly. An intermediatry who knew the guy.
My personal feel is someone who was up for a bit of a lark, a bit of "slap and tickle" who saw it get way out of control, and ended in murder and mayhem. A sad sack who was "in" with the local boys.... until it all went horribly wrong.

It's the start. I can not see this having much of an impact....
^ It is just a drop in the ocean, "But what is an ocean but a multitude of drops".
It's a great plan, get the word out, too many foreigners die and too many Thais go unpunished for it .
Feel free to C/P along the lines; "My sister had a horrible experience at AC bar, she thinks she was drugged and only got lucky her friends came looking for her that something terrible did not happen..."
" I got sooooo sick at AC restaurant..... I puked for 2 days, but didn't have diarrhea which was odd for food poisoning..I really think my food got spiked for complaining about a hair in the soup.."
Has there been anymore talk about the alleged argument that the victims had in a bar with a Thai local? This seems to have disappeared in the fog.
Who was this person that they allegedly argued with? Was it Montriwat?
