The westerners who misbehave on the islands do so with the full support of the locals. It is the local population that sells the drugs and the alcohol. It is the local population that puts on the parties and it is the local population that profits from the events. Therefore, the locals should not be distressed when some of their customers live it up.

In any case, this case has grown legs and is all over the place. Standard result once the Thai police get involved.
Kindness is spaying and neutering one's companion animals.

    This case does get more and more interesting;

We had blood stained jeans showing up all over the place....but now it's down to one pair and it turns out (or at least being reported) that the "blood" was some kind of chemical stain and not blood at all.....oh well.

Both victims were raped....no only the girl was raped.....but wait....the forensic report says no evidence of rape...but she did have sex with somebody?

A video tape of the couple holding hands.....well that turns out not to be them, but some other couple.

Another video of a skinny Asian guy running past has not been mentioned again...

Mr Ware....turns into two Wares....both of which shared a room with the victim Mr Miller. There are Wares and blood soaked jeans all over the place....

Blond hairs in the girls right hand.....and more on her phone. She has blond hair.... Ware does not.. no other blonds in sight.... No DNA match to anybody so far. Are the BIB searching for another blond?

From all the published photos, it looks like the crime scene was never sealed off.....the BIB don't watch American CSI shows apparently. Not an inch of yellow tape to be seen anywhere.

Latest news is that some new Burmese suspect has been rounded up.....maybe they just can't get anything to stick to Ware, so back to the Burmese for a while, until a more promising farang shows up? We can rule out Thais because they are simply not capable of doing such things.

This is all very perplexing for the BIB.... we should show a bit more understanding of the difficulties they face.

The BP reports that the alleged blood stained trousers found in the victim's baggage is in fact some chemical. The earlier suggestion that it was blood was just another inept chicken head policeman jumping to inane conclusions.

Talking about inane, fucking conclusions what is it with this crew of moronic coppers in Koh Tao who keep saying that to strike someone in the face is indicative of a personal grudge ( ergo her killer was known to her, a jealous man = Christopher Ware ).

The rumour mill among the farang on the island discloses the possibility the male victim had had an argument that night with some local chickenhead working in one of the bars.

    Gosh, fancy that.

Needless to say, the inept and impossibly stupid local police are doing their level best to totally fuck up this enquiry.

It is also reported tourists are leaving the island in their droves. Scarcely surprising since at least they know a gang of savage Thai killers are on the loose and with the local police being such a bunch of unmitigated assholes it is unlikely they will be apprehended.

Also Jeff, I have no hatred for the Thai: that would suggest some emotional engagement with them - I have none, I merely see them in the light they invariably portrays themselves. It's called disdain and even, in some cases, utter contempt.

Not really. If Ko Tao people were so mortified by the sight of a couple having sex, they would be unlikely to feel obligated to bugger them before killing them. It would be somewhat hypocritical.

Despite all the nonsense put out by the police, it's fairly obvious Thai did this and have fled the island. Police should establish who is missing from their employment or simply missing and locate them to eliminate them from enquiries. Certainly, bar, restaurant and accommodation staff should be prioritised as indeed anyone between the ages say 17 and 45.

It's only a matter of time.

Kia ora guys (and girls). :-)

This is my first post. (so please go easy on me).

As much as it pains me to admit, after reading this thread I must agree with the Gent. I know he has the reputation of hating Thais, which puts most of us off however, he does make sense *in this case anyway.

Thais do have an ingrained arrogance and superior attitude towards non-Thai. While it's healthy to have pride in ones country, it does seem to blind them to the facts sometimes.

Anyway, I am disgusted how this case has been mishandled by the police and can only hope, the real killer(s) are brought to justice soon.

RIP to the young victims, very sad indeed.

^^all the more reason to withhold judgments until facts are revealed. All the combined teak door armchair CSI expertise ain't gonna bring justice for these horrendous murders.
All the speculating going on seems rather silly and pointless.

    Fair enough.

It's important to separate the undoubtedly deadheaded statements of the police, PM Grunt etc from pure press speculation though, and indeed the speculation of TD members.

A lot of the misinformation has come from press speculation. Hardly a phenomenon limited to Thailand.

The rumour mill among the farang on the island discloses the possibility the male victim had had an argument that night with some local chickenhead working in one of the bars.
This is exactly what the more perceptive and knowledgeable members here have been saying.

The " staff " at Thai beach bars come from the dregs of Thai society, the no hopers, the chancers, the untrustworthy and the violent, the equivalent of the type of day release lowlife who would be found manning fairground rides in the UK circa 1970.

Addled with drug and drink, seething with suppressed anger and self loathing and uniformly marinated in testosterone, their volatility is soon channelled by the boorish antics of their moneyed and disrespectful customers into an unstoppable fit of hatred, it is no surprise that sooner or later one or two of these males revert to type, succumb to the dictates of their genes and behavioural shortcomings and respond in the only way they know how when a loss of face occurs.

Why the local lowlives, who in every other Thai community are very well known to the police, have not been rounded up and interviewed by Pol. Sgt. Baseball bat and Pol.Sgt. Electrode is something we will never know.

What we can be sure of now, is that whilst time has been wasted with the falang brothers, the Thai neanderthals that did this will have left the island and will in all probability be happily employed serving drinks and drugs to backpackers on another island beach.

The performance of the Thai police and authorities in all this has been seen many times before can only be likened to that of the short lived and aimless dance of headless chickens.

The pronouncements from Thais in high office claiming that no Thai could have done this and that the victims were somehow responsible for their fate prove yet again how ignorant and out of touch with reality these people are.

What is it about this race of einsteins that has resulted in them coming hard up against the buffers of self improvement and achievement. They are unable to see and acknowledge the errors and shortcomings that results from their short sightedness and arrogance, surely then they are doomed to languish at the bottom of the human pile.

It is quite impossible to take any of them seriously. They should be treated gently and kindly, like the special needs drooler, as if they were, shall we say, not the full shilling, a slice short of a loaf, for that is what they are, just treat them with a pat on the shoulder, a reassuring " yes, yes " a condescending smile, feed them a peanut or a handful of straw , or better still give them a 20 baht note, and they will be happy and love you forever and cause you no bother.

    Simple is as simple does.

    I agree bro.

It's all just speculation at this stage. Other countries are not immune from rash speculation, we just have to look back at the recent missing Malaysian plane fiasco.

I just think the police should not automatically exclude the possibility that Thais may have committed this heinous crime.

They are seemingly so determined to pin the blame on Non-Thais, just to protect the reputation (and cash inflow) from tourists to the Island.

And I thought The Gent was a bit negative about Thais - Tax takes the championship belt for Thai slagging hands down lol

He's kind of right though, *at least for a certain proportion of the population (not all!)
they do seem to think they are 'sapecial' and beyond criticism.

In any event, the Colonel has given up in his quest to pin this crime on the two Brit brothers, and the assorted Burmese collected over the past few days, and they have been released from any form of custody. Although, in a face saving exercise, the Brit, Christopher Ware, has been asked to remain if he wishes but may leave as long as he promises to return, if required.

He has announced he will now re - start the investigation which will focus on searching for two Thai fishermen and the unidentified Asian depicted in the CCTV footage.

I rather think he will get Maj. Gen. at this rate.

Was it only yesterday he told an Australian reporter that Ware had " probably " done it despite there not being a single shred of evidence to substantiate such a claim other than his own deranged fantasy that the crime was one of passion committed by a farang out of jealousy.

    Unbelievable.

Six migrant workers freed but Briton still asked to stay on

Surat Thani police freed six Myanmar workers from custody after DNA tests released by the Institute of Forensic Medicines did not match any of them.

Pol Col Prachum Ruangthong , chief of the Koh Phangan police station, said that the police have freed all the suspected migrant workers and now have to restart investigation from the beginning.

He said the police have its goal in mind to restart the investigation which he declined to elaborate.

The DNA test also did not match the British friend, Christopher Ware, who shared the same room with the slain tourist David Miller, 24, at Ocean View bungalow where Hannah Witheridge, 23 and friends also stayed during their visit to the island.

But the police asked him to remain in the country pending more investigation.

Earlier Christopher Ware, 24, from Jersey, has been asked by Thai police to stay on the holiday island of Koh Tao while they carried out a DNA test to eliminate him from the case.

Doctors have also been asked to determine whether cuts on Chris Ware’s hands are old wounds or fresh cuts.

Chris was on holiday with his brother James and the pair met up with friend David Miller in Thailand.

However Chris was put in custody after he arrived and stayed on Khao Sarn road in Bangkok for questioning and DNA test.

Meanwhile advisor to the Royal Thai Police commissioner, Pol Gen Charumporn Suranaree said the relatives of the two victims have arrived in Bangkok and would meet him this morning.

They will travel to Surat Thani late today, he said.

He also made clear that David’s friend Christopher Ware could now return home as the Thai police have no authority or could not stop him because he is now not a suspect, but merely a witness.

However if investigation later implicated that he is involved, then the Thai police could seek cooperation from the British police to detain him for questioning.

In another development, Eighth Region police commissioner Pol Lt Gen Panya Mamen this morning instructed the police investigators to now expand suspected targets to cover Thai fishermen in the island, and also a man who was captured by a CCTV camera near the place.

He said the police still could not locate him yet, adding that the renewed investigation could mean the police would explore the entire island to hunt down the killer or killers.

Indeed, post hast and don't spare the horses. It should be borne in mind Ware and his brother were close friends of Miller whose family are on the island I believe. If I were the father I should have great difficulty in restraining myself from throttling that Colonel.

Well, now that the blood soaked jeans and the various Ware's have been eliminated from the hunt, we need to find a blond that matches the DNA of those hairs on the phone and in the girls hand.

There are semen samples to match up, and there are three cigarette butts with all kinds of mystery surrounding them. Farangs may not be free and clear just yet....

Time to beef up the investigation. General staff rank is within sight...and national pride may be at stake.......

From where are these people meant to derive their respect? Their milk of human kindness comes from where – their hand-to-mouth childhoods, their brief but pointless experience at school, one that prepared them inadequately for the dregs of western civilisation?

They find themselves confronted by two types of westerner, neither of whom set any kind of example, nor merit respect.

    1) The pampered, indolent, sexually promiscuous teenager in their gap-year, who has come to Thailand to experience…… Life? Culture?....rather indulge in degenerate behaviour, to strip off, flaunt their retroussé tits, booze themselves into a stupor and to take as many drugs as possible, and whilst seeking oblivion and orgasm, put nothing into the country and learn even less about Asia.

    2) The useless, ageing, dropout farang, who comes to die in their country. Shuffling around town dressed like a teenager, utterly unemployable, (save for the occasional rip-off of his expatriated countrymen), moaning constantly, married to a shrewish wife who only really wanted his money, and has long since given up on tonguing his pendulous testicles, due to their proximity to his poorly-washed bottom and other subterranean scents. Fit only for the human meat grinder, his Thai wife prays to Buddha every night that he will soon absquatulate from their concrete blockhouse and reincarnate in a new life.

    Jesus wept.

And precisely on what basis have you ruled out the possibility the alleged blonde hairs in her hand were her own torn out in the agony and extremis of her final moments when she knew she was going to die in the most horrible of circumstances?

For Chrissakes, even the most intellectually diminished would realise there is no doubt whatsoever this was a crime perpetrated by indigenous Thai resident on that island.
