Thai Police General just announced that they would not in fact need FBI assistance, and that DNA tests conducted in Bangkok had just confirmed that the semen recovered from the female victim's orifices was of Asian origin.

    Asian suspects rape English tourist

Royal Thai Police commissioner revealed Saturday that latest DNA examination has now confirmed Asian suspects responsible for the rape and murder of the English tourist in Koh Tao.

Pol Gen Somyot Phunphanmuang disclosed the latest test of DNA samples collected from semen found inside the body of Ms Hannah Witheridge, 23, showed they belonged to Mongoloid people or Asians.

He revealed the finding just before boarding a flight to Surat Thani today to direct the investigation and hunting down the suspects.

The latest discovery has now enabled the police to narrow their investigation to focus on specific groups, migrant workers and local Thai people.

Pol Gen Somyot also said the Royal Thai Police has now suspended its earlier plan to seek help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after forensic doctors could conduct deeper test of the Y chromosome DNA test.

A Y chromosome DNA test (Y-DNA test) is a genealogical DNA test which is used to explore a man’s patrilineal or direct father’s-line ancestry.

The genealogical DNA test looks at a person’s genome at specific locations. Results give information about genealogy or personal ancestry. In general, these tests compare the results of an individual to others from the same lineage or to current and historic ethnic groups.

That on an island in Thailand the perpetrators were most likely Thai.

Will the lap of honour for this statement of the bleedin' obvious ever end?

Back to the cigarette butts. One had lipstick on it. Three butts...one shared by two men , leaving one smoked by a female and one spare...maybe. 3 or maybe 4 people attack a couple of tourists with a hoe and some other metal object. Rape, murder, run and hide in the general population, not realizing that the clever BIB will narrow down the search to Asians.... who needs the FBI?

Now where's that skinny somchai in the CCTV camera video wearing shorts, supposedly belonging to one of the victims? Somebody must know who he is.....come out somchai the BIB needs to have a word with you.

Asian DNA - assumed it would be for folk that look the same?

Anyway, your list is wrong as well..... you left Thailand on it and they are no included as apparently asian DNA does not mean that Thais could be a suspect.

I'm not going to trawl through 15 pages to see if it's covered but the uncensored pictures of the couple have been leaked. My GF just sent me them without warning, pretty brutal. The person who leaked them should be ashamed of themselves.

Do you think they might start looking for Thai suspects now?

By that obviously I mean the ones that haven't had almost a week to fuck off to the arse end of nowhere.

    Presumably your girlfriend is Thai?

Asians approach death in a different way to farang. That's not to mean they don't value life any the less, it's just that to them death is not so final given their beliefs.

Translating that into the day to day actions they engage in, Asians are not so squeamish of another's suffering. I think it resolves to lack of empathy most Asians seem to have for others not of their species and probably is rooted in an innate lack of imagination or capacity for abstract thought.

Really, they're a cruel people, albeit prone to sentimentality, remarkably ignorant and insensitive and usually just a little bit stupid. Whether it be a peasant or a General, they're mostly all deficient as human beings but in truth outside of their little bubbles of consciousness why should they care?

One walks among them in a cloak of invisibility most of the time.

Rubbish. They LOVE looking at macabre pictures of the dead.

Look at the clamour of photographers beating a path to any murder scene, and the Thai magazines that focus on such things and nothing else.

I heard they were recalling some of the Thai fishing vessels that were moored close by that night.

Although it is beyond the capabilities of a Thai to murder and rape, they have been banged up in prison for doing it quite recently...

Better to let the murderer(s) not be caught if they were Thai as that would that change the common belief that Thais are a not a confrontational people. In 2 weeks time this will all be forgotten and life goes on in the LoS.
