Let's not kid ourselves here guys.
The idea of Bangkok BIB arriving to save the day is somewhat laughable. Bangkok BIB are equally dim-witted, incompetent and corrupt as their islander counterparts.
Another thing, this sort of thing happens on a regular basis to Thais, situated well down the social pecking order. In these situations, there's not even an attempt at 'going through the motions of an investigation'.
Now back to the BIB, have they screwed up the investigation by means of sabotage or their standard gross incompetence?....although at this stage it's probably a moot point.
Sean McAnna (a friend of Miller's) claims the Thai mafia gave him death threats and forced him to flee the island.

Bit silly to suggest fitting up a Scot when the DNA has already said Asian innit?
Unless they just want him off the island.
Also, they could intimidate him, but not the shopkeeper?

They may not understand DNA or even care...
Word on the street is that the Scot tried to be a have a go hero, going around asking far too many questions, then quickly found out he was out of his depth and fled.

^Are you on that street?...And would you try to help a friend?,,,Just asking...
Koh Tao: police fail another day
Latest DNA test results, mostly on migrants, come back negative; police waiting for news on 3 'new' suspects tested
POLICE hunting the killers of two British tourists on Koh Tao failed again yesterday to link suspects to the crimes, as DNA tests on 30 out of 64 samples collected mostly from migrants on the island did not match any found on the victims' bodies.
Yesterday was the eighth day since the murders but police have yet to reveal solid clues or the likely motive. The officials were waiting for results of DNA tests of three 'new' suspects: two Thais and a migrant who looks like a man seen on a close-circuit television camera.
However they have confirmed that two weapons we used to kill the pair - which led them to believe they are hunting at least two people.
The body of Hannah Witheridge, the young female backpacker slain on the island, meanwhile, left Bangkok for her home country. Her family said in a statement: "We can confirm that we have now returned to the UK with our beautiful Hannah. As a family we feel enormous relief to have Hannah back at home where she belongs."
Her body was found next to David Miller, also 24, on the beach of the resort island on Monday morning. Both were bludgeoned to death.
Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang said yesterday that officers would have to widen the search to be beyond the island.
"We have now confirmed that the killing weapon is not only a hoe found stained with blood, but also a wooden club. This made us believe that there are at least two attackers," he said.

The point was not about competence, it was about being "owned" by the local mafia as local cops may be. At least some of the ones from BKK are not regular street cops, they are "detectives"....Originally Posted by Stranger

^Exactly. The notion that the mainland cops that are involved in this case will be under the control of Ko Tao hoods, and scared to arrest some low down foot soldier thug, is laughable.
You completely or deliberately miss the point EggSandwichfozzy.
The bangkok cops are not under the control of some local hoods. far from it. Bangkok cops are shite though - no different to the local buffoons who because they clearly know who did it, and are part and parcel of their same gang of career criminals (yes, Thai police are basically criminals in a uniform) messed up the investigation from day one.
The bangkok cops don't care who did it. THey just want to arrest anyone ASAP and make it all go away. The local cops pay money to the regional cops who pay it up the line all the way to the big cheese of the cops. The Trickle up of graft money. So where as you in your naivety claim "bangkok cops are not owned by them" which they are not, they have been receiving their cut of the pay offs for years. So to hang the local thugs out to dry for simply only topping a couple of farangs, it would set a bad message to the whole country of criminals in cahoots with the cops. What protection are the getting if they get arrested?
The cops know who did it - have from day one. Have been systematically fucking up the investigation and trying to fit everyone up. Hell, the scotish lad posts a picture and the cops talk to the 2 chaps and don't even DNA check them! Insanity.
Just because there is some graft going on it doesn't give every little shitstain carte blanche to run around killing and raping tourists with no consequences.
Sometimes, some crimes, someone has to pay. Ask Kamnan Poh, or Takki...
The brother of the chief is the guy on the left in the store photo.
Actually I disagree in part. You are right - it does not give them carte blanche to do it, but you can be damned sure that there are no consequences the vast majority of the time for the people who actually do these heinous things. Some one will pay - the real perpetrator will pay to the cops and judiciary, as well as to a patsy who will throw his life away in prison to secure his families short terms wealth. The Patsy will pay with a long stretch inside until he can conveniently be let out on fhe sly. The only people who will actually really pay though are the relatives of the victims. They will pay alright - with tears and heart break.
All of thailand police are a crime syndicate, all interconnected, and all looking to protect their own interests.
You surely must know you are not on the level Necron - even Aberlour is agreeing with you.
I seriously doubt it. You are giving the system way to much credit.
Graft at this level lets him run his bar all ours with no interference, maybe sort out some fights and minor disputes in his favour. It's kept local mouths shut, but that's all.
It wouldn't cover world news making rape and murder. No way.
Red Bull Kid couldn't pull off the patsy card with all his money and a Police General in his pocket, why would this nobody be able to, he a fucking bartender.....
Bangkok Post update:
Arrests expected today in Koh Tao murders | Bangkok Post: news
Investigators Tuesday interrogated Montriwat Toovichien, a 45-year-old bartender at AC Bar on Koh Tao who identified as the man seen in closed-circuit video footage in the hours before the Sept 15 bludgeoning...
And as if to prove a point.... "Brother of island's village chief among suspects" and this guy is still on the loose, walking around free as a bird, and he has now been given notice to fly away ASAP.
Who is the 45 year old bartender in the club in which the Scot also worked, yes? And one of the two (left) in the Scot's picture, yes?

Appears to be the case...look alike even from the poor cctv footage. Although looks like he spruced up a bit for todays little tea party w/ the coppers.
One of the guys in the picture was the brother of the local big wig and he has been given until the end of the week to run away before he is charged.

^ Exactly.
Police still waiting for DNA test results of speedboat driver linked to Koh Tao murder case
Koh Tao police are now waiting for the test result of the DNA of a speedboat who is believed to have been linked to the murders of two British tourists in Koh Tao.
A speedboat driver responsible for ferrying tourists from Koh Samui to Koh Tao was detained for interrogation by police yesterday. Reports from locals suggested that the 27 year-old man had acted suspiciously by trying to hide inside a cave at Khao Laem Yai after the murders had taken place.
Investigations reveal that the speedboat driver was clearly beating around the bush when he was interrogated by police, and denied all the charges. He was tested positive for drugs and would be prosecuted on drug-related charges.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan has declared that the Thai police will not enlist the help of the FBI or any other international law enforcement agencies. He believes the case will be solved in a couple of days.

You seem to think the thais give a damn about what the rest of the world thinks about them - they don't. Even the PM blamed the girl for her brutal rape and murder for having worn a bikini at some point on the beach. They care about being caught out and made to look stupid, and their typical response to that is to close it up quickly without upsetting their major source of income.... graft money.Originally Posted by Necron99
If that was the case there would be two Burmese or Sea Pikeys in jail already.
They might have gone that route if the Chief and Shitstain had played ball from day one, but they tried to get away with it and have caused a scene.
Once you make a scene, you have to deal with the consequences.
If it was as easy as you say, Kamnan Poh would still be running Pattaya and Chonburi and his henchmen wouldn't be in jail.
And after 10 years on the run, where is Kamnan Poh now?
