I think some of you guys need to walk a mile in the brothers shoes.

If the court did not convict the Burmese guys the family would of been totally gutted.

I mean, they had nothing else and I find it easy to see how they found no fault in the conviction.

I'm not saying it was right or wrong but I can feel the family's pain on this one.

This case will disappear same as this thread, same as all other Thailand murders.

    Normal stuff for Thailand.

The human brain also clings to the narratives that hurt the least. You'd imagine that some people simply wanted the official story to be the true one as the alternative is so painful to consider, that that there was this huge mechanism in motion involving so many people with one purpose, to rob you and your family of justice.

You're kidding right? You're comfortable with two innocent guys hanging because the family of the victims a murder would have been gutted otherwise!!
    WTF?
    Fuck them.
What about the family of the two innocent guys?
Imagine the angst and horror and misery of their mums and dads when their beautiful boys die for nothing.

    Ok the Thai judicial truth:
    'Evidence':
2 illegal immigrants (several years) who cannot be arsed to learn to speak Thai,
CCTV places them near the beach , their litter on the beach, admitted to going to the beach, admitted to being legless and claimed to have having no memory of the night , DNA matches (samples used up) , confession ( retracted)
    Thai verdict: guilty
    Your verdict : not guilty

    PC media version:
    'Evidence':
The islands run by mafia so any crime must be done by them
A blurry video of a guy running, with his arm held in a certain way- with matches one photo frame of a mini mafia junior walking in the same manor...
A rumour of an face losing argument in the AC bar .
They are poor little immigrants incapable of crime.
The islands run by mafia so any crime must be done by them.. etc

    Your verdict : guilty !
It seems you lot can see the flaws in Thai judicial system but have even lower standard for conviction yourself .

Most of the islanders are in on it , as in - could not care less
( the few exceptions being locals who kindly placed flowers near the murder scene)
so I'm just glad they got two of them .

    Interesting.

His name is familiar, so I looked him up. It seems he's no stranger to adversity.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sondhi_Limthongkul

"Days after the Bangkok unrest was quelled by military force, gunmen ambushed Sondhi's car at a petrol station. They shot out the tires, and fired over 100 M-16 and AK-47 assault rifle rounds at the car. The attackers escaped from the scene when Sondhi's followers in another car opened fire on them. Sondhi suffered a serious head wound but remained conscious, standing and lucid before being sent to a hospital for emergency surgery. Sondhi survived the surgery, which involved removing several bullet fragments embedded about half a centimetre deep in his skull. It is not certain who was behind the shooting, though Sondhi's son and PAD's spokesmen speculated that a faction of the military or police might have been behind it."

True: The Police in Thailand can make an arrest without physical evidence.

True: The Prosecutor in Thailand can get a conviction without physical evidence.

True , Blue. Let's hope it never happens to you.

I understand that there are many nations around the world with this same working mentality of justice.
Unfortunately or fortunately , many of us have chosen to live in LOS and we can rail against the system and perceived injustice as opposed to living in those other countries where we would be arrested for railing against the system and perceived injustice.

the sonthi video posted above is most interesting, and his take on events illustrates perfectly the contempt with which those in high position in thailand hold their countrymen and the lengths they will go to in order to court favour and seek advancement.

You certainly cannot rail against the courts in Thailand. It is illegal to criticise the verdict of a Thai court.

The name rang a bell, but I've never followed Thai politics. And I'm not living in Thailand any more. I'm happily dwelling in Australia with my Thai wife.

So the verdict affirms that two small and quite drunk young Burmese guys were able to somehow overpower and kill (after a struggle) a bigger young Caucasian. And despite the well-known effects of alcohol (in Oz we call it "brewer's droop"), at least one was able to orgasm inside her.

    Right.

    Right.
It does indeed. And as we are not allowed to do anything other than praise the awesome wisdom of the Thai judiciary I'll say no more except to say that the words "corrupt, evil, murdering fuckwads" are words we have in the English language.

It might be illegal though it seems we are doing a very nice job of it on-line, aren't we ?

Anyone looking over your shoulder , DrB0b ?

For the record , I'm questioning the judgement of the court in regard to this matter discussed in many of the 3,000 previous posts on this thread.
To not voice dissent is the same as condoning the action.
It's the only thing I can do.

In reality as Terry has stated quite eloquently prior , it won't really matter.
No worse or better than many other nations IMO.

I'm only hoping that something might / may change in the appeal process due to the voices seeking truth. Sadly the timing is not appropriate as many nations inside and outside of Asia are stifling voices of opposition.

What Thailand does or how it reacts is really all that really counts for the two Burmese men. I would not have wished to be in their shoes.
Quite possibly , a tang of conscience bothered me on Christmas eve...possibly.

B0b, I know you feel the same.

Truth as a concept is incidental to their society and quite unnecessary to governance. Occasionally, it can be burnished but only when it coincides with other factors and expedience does not suffer.

Frankly, it's the Asian way and anyone choosing to pitch their camp here should never forget it.

My beef is with westerners who lug their western baggage around with them and attempt to draw parallels where none exist.

Tax, it's in Thai. Kindly illustrate your opinion by giving a vivid snapshot of his views in English.
