No wonder, with no note taking allowed and all the difficulties of translating, that different reports of the trial produce different and diametrically opposed information. In the end, the judge gets to summarize the trial and evidence presented and his version is the one that goes down as correct in Thai law. By the way, I'm not saying that this way of doing things has anything to do with justice.
It's a very controlling way of doing things and rather revealing in different way.

The royally-bestowed "khunying" title has kept her safe from enemies in the BiB for a while. And also from the ahem bomb-scanner malarkey.

    Big Week For the Defense!

    Christopher Harkins
    honolulu, U.S. Minor Outlying Islands
13 Sep 2015 — Hello everyone. I have been waiting for significant news to pop up before I bombarded all of your email addresses with an update. This week has been VERY good for the defense.

Dr. Pornthip, who is a sort of forensics celebrity in Thailand, has testified that there was NO DNA from Win and Zaw found on the murder weapon. She did state however that there was the DNA of two other males on the weapon. She also pointed out a number of other irregularities and falsehoods in regards to the way the alleged police investigation was carried out.

Here is a quick but incomplete list of real evidence based slaps in the face to the prosecution thus far. For a more complete list please see the articles I linked to at the end of the update.

    • Dr. Pornthip challenged all forensics testing, highlighted inaccuracies in the sperm DNA analysis, pointed out Hannah’s clothes were most crucial piece of evidence but lawyers said they are missing and not even on the official evidence list
    • Win and Zaw confessed under horrendous amounts of torture. This was verified by Thailand’s own Human rights commission.
    • All officers summoned to report to the Thai Human Rights commission that were accused of participating in this torture refused to show up.

This case is truly unprecedented in the way that not only has the head of Thailand’s Institute of Forensics openly testified in court against the police, but also how both the international community and the local Thai community have publicly expressed their outrage against the corrupt police and mafia connected families in Thailand.

What is absolutely crucial for all of us to do now is to continue to demand that this story be kept in the news. It is not an exaggeration to state that without all of you writing your letters, spreading your thoughts, opinions and facts about this case through both social and traditional media, and donating money to the defense team, this case would have been over within days and Win and Zaw would most likely have been executed for a crime that is now even obvious to the most least informed observer that they did not commit.

Quite literally the ONLY evidence the prosecution has at all is the word of corrupt police officials that they used to have a DNA match found on the body of one of the victims. Of course once asked to produce this DNA evidence in court it was “all used up”. Please also do not forget that these are the same people that apparently broke the realms of scientific possibility in producing the fastest DNA test results in the history of forensics science.

Enough is enough. The whole thing is and has been a clear cover-up from day one. There is simply NO evidence to implicate the two on trial. The Thai police are still somehow stating they have a strong case despite there being no evidence submitted to the court that shows this.

The UK government, FCO and Scotland Yard should also be ashamed of themselves for not only refusing to help solve the murders of two of their nationals, but releasing likely FCO written or at least strongly encouraged statements from the families that led the world to believe that these two innocent people might actually have been responsible for one of the most horrific and egregious crimes to ever happen in Southern Thailand.

Please remember that this case is not only about proving the innocence of Win and Zaw. What has always been our main goal is getting justice for David and Hannah. Once Win and Zaw are free the real battle will have just begun. We all need to demand that the real murderers face justice.

The status quo of murdering both Thais and foreigners in Thailand with impunity by those with money and influence must end. This case needs to be the start of this change.

If the Thai Prime Minister Prayuth chan-ocha is serious about his pledge to clean Thailand of corruption, there is no better chance than right now with this case. This we need to demand!

Below are must read articles for any of you that are still following and supporting this case. If you have any recommendations on how to proceed please feel free to email us at [email protected] I promise you that every email is read and every comment and suggestion appreciated.

Also, please follow defense team member Andy Hall at his twitter feed for more instant and specific updates regarding the trial. Letters of support for the two boys is also always welcome and are guaranteed to be delivered. I have also been told they have been working on their English as they are excited to read these letters which gives them more hope and helps the time to pass by.

Thank you all for your continued support. Let’s keep up the great work by keeping this story in the news!

I note that the Andrew Drummond link is banned by the Thai Govt as are other links to the same story on twitter.

The police have support from the so called information ministry. Possibly should be renamed the suppression of information ministry.

    In that article....

"The status quo of murdering both Thais and foreigners in Thailand with impunity by those with money and influence must end. This case needs to be the start of this change."

Assuming the case does get thrown out, at what point will the police start trying to find the real perps? Even the PM is supporting the cover-up as he apparently has connections to the island's bar owners. This thing is going to be completely exposed at some point but how it does so is hard to imagine. You would think the government can see this happening and would be working on damage control now.

The govt don't give a toss and will continue to not give toss as long as the tourists keep coming, the Chinese have filled the hole left by Europeans nicely and will continue to for the foreseeable.

If these two guys get set free it could mark a change in that the Filth could actually be accountable.

They say that Thai judges are paid off, not in all cases surely.

lets hope these Judges have not and actually hand down an outcome based on the evidence presented.

If they are convicted there will for sure be an appeal.

Did the UK not say they would release their findings once a verdict had been reached ?
If they did, what they have would be available for an appeal, before a different court and panel of judges.

It's a patronage culture; the island is accountable to the feudal lord of Suratani; the same fellow who has been working for years to start violence and get the army into power - they are a murderous cult who have no morals.

No it won't. It's a patronage culture, it cannot be exposed; it will be lied about and hidden, and scapegoats will always be found.

Have to agree with Betty the patronage culture is embedded in Thailand. Scratch beneath the surface of modern technology and this country is 400 years behind England. Nothing will change in any of our lifetimes. Unless there is a revolution but that wont happen because mai pen rai kicks in and the elite sit back and laugh.

I think it's more of a case that the common people don't do anything because they are blocked at every turn.

People do not get involved because they are scared too.

So that's why Mai Pen Rai rules the day and only money counts.

My understanding is that if there is only a small amount of DNA prior to being tested, it is amplified by means of the polymerase chain reaction. This is more or less the same as cloning it. Therefore it is not possible for there to be none left....if it was tested properly.

BTW, wasn't there something early on about the two victims having been in an argument of some kind in a bar, earlier in the night ? Anything ever eventuate about that ?
