Some returned when Finland joined the Nazis and attacked SU.

Earlier this month, Ukraine secretly received a series of long-range ATAMSC missiles from the United States.

Garron Yarn, spokesman for the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, told US media CNN.

A Ukrainian court has issued an arrest warrant for the country's agriculture minister, Mykola Solskyj.

It writes the news agency Reuters.

Mykola Solskyj is accused in a corruption case of illegal acquisition of state-owned land, and although he denies all the charges, he announced yesterday that he will resign from his ministerial post.

However, he will remain in office until a replacement has been appointed.

There are problems for the Russian economy.

A think tank with close ties to the Russian government writes in a report that Russia's industrial production is stagnating, that it is increasingly difficult to export industrial products, and that there is a decline in the ability to make money in most industries. It writes Reuters.

The think tank, called The Center for Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-Term Forecasting, also warns that there is a shortage of imported components and raw materials.

The think tank says that already at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year there were signs of the deteriorating situation of the Russian economy.

At least three places along the front line in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian soldiers have had to move back.

This is due to a "deteriorating" military situation, Ukraine's defense chief, Oleksandr Syrskyy, wrote on the social media site Telegram.

The focal point of the fighting is close to Chasiv Jar and northwest of Avdijivka, which Russian forces captured in February.

As a result, Ukrainian soldiers have had to take up new positions west of the villages of Berdychi and Semenivka.

Putin inaugurated for fifth term as Russian president

Vladimir Putin’s fifth term as president of Russia has begun, following his inauguration in Moscow on Tuesday.

The ceremony was held at the Grand Kremlin Palace, after the 71-year-old leader took a short car ride to the location from his workplace. The current protocol was first used in 1996, when Boris Yeltsin assumed his second term in office.

The oath to serve the nation and its people is taken while placing one hand on a special copy of the constitution used during inaugurations. The document used on Tuesday was updated to reflect amendments adopted in 2020 and the inclusion of four former Ukrainian regions which voted in referendums in 2022 to join Russia.

Lawmakers from both chambers of the nation’s parliament and justices of the Constitutional Court were present. Following the oath, Chief Justice Valery Zorkin confirmed Putin’s fifth presidency, which will last for six years.

Putin’s previous inaugurations took place in 2000, 2004, 2012, and 2018. This year stands out, as a number of Western nations and the EU chose to boycott the event. Their governments claim that this year’s presidential election in Russia, which Putin won with a record 87.28% of the vote, was not free and fair.

Russia’s relations with the West are at one of their worst points in history. Moscow has accused the US and its allies of waging a proxy war against Russia. It is up to the West to decide if it wants to engage in dialogue with Russia or pursue endless aggression in an attempt to hamper the country’s development, President Vladimir Putin said during his inauguration speech on Tuesday.

Putin’s address came after he was officially sworn in for a fifth term as Russian leader. The ceremony took place at the Kremlin Grand Palace and was attended by dozens of dignitaries, including senior officials from parliament and the constitutional court.

Commenting on the future of Russia and its relations with other nations, Putin stressed that “we do not refuse dialogue with Western states. The choice is theirs: do they intend to continue trying to restrain the development of Russia, continue the policy of aggression and relentless pressure that they have pursued for years, or look for a path to cooperation and peace.”

This cooperation must include discussions on issues of security and strategic stability, according to the Russian president. However, any talks must be carried out with mutual respect on equal terms, and without “arrogance, conceit, and personal exclusivity,” Putin insisted.

At the same time, Russia will strive to remain self-sufficient and competitive, he added.

Putin also stressed the importance of remembering “the tragic price of internal turmoil and upheaval.” In order to ensure its unity and independence, Russia’s statehood and socio-political system must be flexible and resistant to any challenges and threats, the president insisted.

The president also said society has changed in recent years, and has begun to value “reliability, mutual responsibility, sincerity, decency, nobility and courage.”

Putin went on to promise to use his powers as head of state to ensure that all Russian citizens who have proven their loyalty and have shown “their best human and professional qualities” are given leading positions in public administration, the economy, and other spheres."
