As it pertains to the subject matter of this thread and in support of the position I have taken from day one.

"Noam Chomsky, 93, issues warning: 'We're approaching the most dangerous point in human history' "

"With the ongoing climate crisis and the looming possibility of nuclear war,Noam Chomsky, 93, often hailed as one of the world’s most important intellectuals alive, warns that “we’re approaching the most dangerous point in human history.” "
"The renowned linguist and social critic has lived through several consequential events of the 20th century. In a recent interview with The New Statesman, he recalled feeling terrified while “listening to Hitler’s speeches on the radio” at the age of 6 and writing about the 1939 fall of Barcelona at the age of 10. It is now, however, that Chomsky says we are “facing the prospect of destruction” of human life on Earth. "

" Chomsky’s father, who was of Jewish descent, was born in present-day Ukraine. When asked what Russian president Vladimir Putin’s motivations for invading Ukraine might have been, Chomsky declared that it is not enough to simply write the conflict off as a matter of Putin’s “twisted” mind."

"Putin is as concerned with democracy as we are,” Chomsky told the Statesman, referring to the U.S.’ history of political and economic reach in the East. He cited September 2021, when the U.S. sent Ukraine advanced weapons in the name of “enhanced military cooperation,” as an example. "

" Chomsky also pointed to “Iran in 1953, Guatemala in 1954, Chile in 1973” before saying, “But we are supposed to honor and admire Washington’s enormous commitment to sovereignty and democracy.”"
Noam Chomsky, 93, issues warning: 'We're approaching the most dangerous point in human history'
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Chomsky is mistaken. Putins ego will take more battering, and the rest of Europe can carry on jogging.

It’s about opinions, and Chomsky’s are buried under history. It’s only an issue if NATO gets involved directly in the fighting.

The above was not the point of his reply,
Aside of the inference that Russia was forced into this . Not a value judgment but simply a observation of facts.
The point of his reply was that he is just as bad as we are, and that it is rich of us to be criticizing Putin for not respecting democracy and seventy.
The first point I made in this thread , several pages back , when I started with my arguments, was toward American exceptionalism.
i.e. , The US being critical of behaviors that it's self engages often.
....IMO the US is the greatest threat to Democracy!! because many of those who oppose American hegemony are forced toward totalitarian systems. Any democratic system that is in opposed to US dominance the US will try ,and often succeed in subverting.
Like Henry Ford who said about the model T, "You can have any color model T as long as it's black" The US will support democracy in a country as long as it is aligned and in support of it's dominance .

Noam Chomsky says this is an illegal invasion though. And judging from your posts I don't think you agree with that.

I find it amazing that you were all able to watch a 1 hour long interview and dissect it in 15 minutes.
For the shaken of argument , from the video below, what part of what Noam Chomsky said you disagree and why?
For instance , time stamp X, he said Y, this is why he is wrong.

Simple really. He thinks the US is evil. It really isn’t and you claiming that the US has history and gets it wrong, presuppose that they have learned nothing.
    An incorrect assumption.

Read it! Funny as shit just like Chomsky

Lot of nuts and fruits out their right now. But Chomsky was always ahead of times and makes these dooms day predictions on a regular basis. Remember Noams Arc apocalyptic finale 2003. The old fart needs/wants to stay in the news to matter what.

Sad that some people buy this crap.

Give me a Hallelujah will ya!

The idol of the US left never tires of pointing out that the USA is the most dangerous country in the world. One looks in vain for an American post-war president whose policy Chomsky does not compare with Hitler's is ridiculous. In his most recent essay from 2013 we experience the apocalyptic finale. Title: Will Human Culture Survive Existing Capitalism? Rather not and if so, then only with life-threatening injuries, because:

“The current political and economic system is a kind of plutocracy, far from a democracy. (...) In the context of real capitalism, it is in the interests of the short-term gains of the business masters that we become a foolish nation and not be misled by science and reason.”

Noam Chomsky's Manichaean world view tolerates neither overtones and nuances in theory nor compromises or border crossings in practice. So he confesses in 2008.

As a moral vigilante, Noam Chomsky embodies only a discontinued model that only serves the embittered of the epochal break of '89. In other words, those who were revived like sleeping dogs with the crisis of financial capitalism and who still consider human rights options to be a malicious ruse by US imperialism.

in short "He's an old idiot"
