Russia does not seek to annex Ukraine. A partition appears most likely though.

The very simple fact is no one but Putin is responsible for the invasion. The murder of innocents is on him. Maybe it was because of his fears about NATO, a naked land grab, shoring up domestic support, oil, historical dreams of the USSR, clearing out Nazis: all interesting to discuss but No one but Putin is responsible for the invasion and no one but Putin is responsible for prolonging the invasion.
I didn't get the impression that BB was apportioning blame in equal measure, nor did I think he was justifying the invasion. However, he would be the best person to reply.

Personally, I see no justification for taking Crimea, the Donbas, or the invasion. However, it's happened and Putin has his reasons. Without understanding those reasons there is very little chance of compromise and an end to the war. A war that could still escalate.

It's clear that Zelensky is not on Putin's Christmas list. The banning of the Russian language, used by 30% of the population, the banning of Russian media, the arrest of pro Russian figures did not improve relations. I realise these were not all carried out while he was in office but he didn't revoke them. The attempt to modify the Minsk Agreement was also not helpful and cutting off the water to Crimea was costing Russia a whole load of money.

Unfortunately, Skiddy is so polarised in his posts that valid points are just ignored. For example, two ports on the Black Sea have been modified to accept Nato warships and they were funded by US money. Nato access to ports in the Black Sea can be seen as very threatening to Russia. It has already led to at least two diplomatic incidents.

It's too easy to just state someone is 100% right or 100% wrong. In reality life doesn't work that way.

You speak for all 150 million Russians, so you'll forgive me if I don't trust you. As for Putin's dead body - excellent choice.

As an American you fail ti understand that no-one in Europe wants to start a war with Russia. No one. Russia is feared by most, hence the defensive alliance called NATO. Western nations are far wealthier and advanced than the Russian backward sloth.

Why do you think so many ex-Warsaw Pact countries joined NATO? To attack Russia?

Nope, Russia's armed forces killing tens of thousands of Ukrainians are not collateral damage . . . they are being murdered and supported by apologists like you.

Turkey is the ever-present shadow over Greece, to be stepped on when the time comes - you can just pray that NATO is there to help the whiny tax-dodgers.

Ukraine's president has addressed federal parliament warning that Australia isn't immune from the fallout of the Russian invasion.

Indeed. It is a level playing field, nothing to stop Putin phoning around and asking for a few attack helicopters. Start with Boris, I'm sure he'd have some choice words of encouragement.

I am sure that Putin would not refuse a few donated attack helicopters, since the Ukrainians have been shooting so many of them down.

You can always rent an AirBnB in Kiev if you wanna help with the good cause fellas. Of course it is assumed you will never actually go there. I wonder how many scammers are making out like bandits on that one.

This WAR has nothing to do with Mexico.

Whichever way you want to paint it or describe it, declaring separate republics inside Ukraine is annexation. Putin insists on it because it makes a nice buffer zone between Russia and Ukraine. It’s annexation.
