I agree completely. If punishment is the domain of private enterprise, why not law enforcement and the justice system. Can everything be turned into a commodity for profit?Originally Posted by Storekeeper
It seems it can. Even war, when you consider the thouands of privateers the Government hires to go to Iraq and Afghanistan.
There was a case last year of a local fire department that wouldn't put out a house fire because the guy hadn't paid his annual fee for the service. I've never lived anywhere where you had to pay a seperate fee for fire service.

You miss the larger point.
The prison guards can trump up anything they want to keep the prisoner in longer and assure themselves a little job security.
On a larger level, the companies that create these private beurocracies (sp) hire lobbyists to...guess what...write laws to put people in jail, or increase the sentence for certain crimes.
It has corruption written on the face of it. But there's so much of it out in the open these days, it's easy to lose sight of.
Just a scheme to have an unlimited supply of slave labor.

Heh...tell us about how profitable the USPS is?![]()

Tell us where in the Postal Clause it says that the USPS has to be profitable? I thought you teabaggers were supposed to support the Constitution.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

This is an outright lie. I just ran my own price quote on both sites and as someone with a logistics background I knew you where full of shit. The cost to send a 5 pound box to Thailand from the US using Fedex via the cheapest method is $152.50 via FedEx International Economy.
I could ship the same 5 pounds using USPS Priority Mail International for $59.95.
What other lies do you have for me to debunk today boontard?

Yea, I'm a rational thinking person and failed the test with 18.
(Quite an unintelligent test)
Guess what boys & girls, the UK is privatizing it's Royal Mail Service thru a public stock offering sometime in the next few months, Obviously the way to go for the US Postal Service too at some point.
Now, all they need to do too is privatized their Health Service - the NHS which is a public shame. Lady Thatcher would be so proud!

Another government sell off to raise some desperately needed cash. The following are guaranteed: (1) Jobs will be lost; (2) Prices will go up; (3) Service will deteriorate.
Just as we've seen after the sell off of Trains, Water, Utilities.....
Yep, and they need the cash to subsidize the new private owners of trains, water, utilities, post. The conservative utopia has arrived.

^ That graphic is fucked up on so many levels it's laughable.

And it's also why many don't want immigration reform ... Private prisons are big business along the borders.
