Cruz and Rand Paul will never get elected as potus, and getting the nomination is highly doubtful.

Long way to go for the next election, but the GOP heavyweights want Cristie to run and they are willing to bankroll, fund raise, and get the funds for his run.

The GOP often annoints a person for the nomination. This is what they are doing with Cristie.

I think a Cristie vs. HRC campaign would be very interesting, and I would vote for Cristie.

Here is an article on Rand having good chances for bieng potus. I disagree with it. He does not present himself well, IMO, has little experience, is too Libertarian to win against Hillary. I don´t think he is viable after 2016, either. Better to stay in the Senate.

He also does not seems as sharp as his father.

    --
President Rand Paul Watch out, he's becoming a better politician every day

    BY JULIA IOFFE

It was the first time in recent memory that the Iowa GOP Lincoln Day Dinner sold out nearly two weeks in advance, and it was on the strength of its headliner, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who, in turn, was invited on the strength of his 13-hour filibuster against the Obama administration’s use of drones. During the happy hour at a small Cedar Rapids hotel, local donors stood in line to have their pictures taken with Paul, almost completely ignoring their own congressmen, Representative Steve King and Senator Chuck Grassley. They had come to see Paul, and he got a standing ovation before he even started talking.

Paul began in stand-up mode, describing a recent trip to New York in which he had driven by the Federal Reserve—the crowd booed on cue—to find it blocked by police cars. “We go up to the police, and we ask what’s going on, and they say the Federal Reserve has been robbed. And we said, really?!” Paul said, his voice nearly cracking in mock disbelief. “They said, ‘Yeah, but we caught the thieves. They got in front of the safe, they had the big safe open, but they were perplexed. They were flummoxed. They didn’t know what to do with minus sixteen trillion dollars!’ ”

    Platon
Rand Paul keeps his fingers crossed.

To see the full magazine cover image, click here. To learn more about how the picture came about, click here.

The audience roared—which was to be expected, since they were, as Paul himself joked, “an easy crowd.” His father, Ron Paul, the libertarian Quixote, who famously preached a return to the gold standard and wrote a book called End the Fed, had come in third in the state’s presidential caucuses last year. Rand’s timing, too, was fortuitous: That day, the attendees were buzzing about the news that the IRS had apologized for picking on the kinds of conservative grassroots groups that make up the Paul family base.

In fact, in the months since Rand Paul’s blockbuster filibuster, the news cycle has handed him gift after gift after gift. Not long after the IRS revelations came the Department of Justice’s aggressive pursuit of national security leaks to the Associated Press. Then news broke that the National Security Agency was dredging up massive amounts of telephone data from millions of Americans on a daily basis. Paul quickly threatened to bring a class action lawsuit against the agency. This is a moment tailored for Rand Paul, more than for Marco Rubio or Chris Christie, or anyone else in the potential Republican 2016 lineup.

Here are 16 reasons why Hillary Clinton is poised to be elected (The Daily Beast) the next president of the United States, in order of importance.

    1. Madame President: A Great Social Movement in the Making
    2. The Media Is Ready to Crown a Queen
    3. Groupthink: It’s Her Time, and She Deserves It
    4. Organization the Obama Way
    5. Barrels of Money
    6. The Electoral College is Slanted Toward Hillary and the Democrats
    7. Hillary Will Have Either Symbolic or No Primary Opposition
    8. The Hispanic Voting Bloc Is Hillary’s to Lose
    9. The African-American and Asian Vote Is Also Hillary’s to Lose
    10. Bill Clinton Will Be a Tremendous Asset to Hillary
    11. Hillary Will Run for Either Obama’s Third Term or Bill Clinton’s
    12. The Republicans Have a Weak Bench With Little Star Power
    13. The Long GOP Primary System Plays to Hillary’s Advantage
    14. Hillary Will Make the Case That She Is the Only Leader Who Can Bring Us Together
    15. Calling Hillary ‘Old’ Insults the Old Republican Base
    16. The GOP Has Weak Arguments Against Hillary

    And Finally…
Because of reasons No. 1 through 16, and in spite of the fact that Hillary is extremely polarizing and travels with a lot of baggage, she is still poised to win in 2016 because frankly, there is no one who can stop her.

    More about #7 above,…..

Ready For Hillary, the super PAC with close ties to Clinton confidants, has raised $1.2 million since its inception this year— with a good chunk of the cash coming from mega-donors to President Barack Obama.

While it’s hardly a breathtaking amount of money by today’s standards, the effort drives home the painful message to other potential Democratic presidential hopefuls that Clinton controls the field three years before any votes are cast.

    snip

Political operatives close to Vice-president Joseph Biden, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley say privately that the men will not run if Clinton gets into the race. “He doesn’t have a death wish,” said an advisor to one.

And just for fun (what people think about Palin in her home state),…..

PPP's newest Alaska poll finds that Hillary Clinton would have a chance at winning the state in 2016...but only if Sarah Palin was the Republican candidate for President. Clinton would lead Palin 49/40 in a hypothetical match up. Only 18% of Alaskans think Palin should run in 2016 to 77% who think she shouldn't, and even among Republican voters 72% think she should sit out the race.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

    Heh...The Hillary Fascination Tour Continues.

Basically, she's only a 'rock star' because people keep calling her one. Can anyone name a truly interesting thing HRC has said? What has she ever accomplished, eh?

She's only in the spotlight because of her old man...

^^That's a fascinating article. Someone sent it to me about an hour ago. If the assumptions are correct by and large, and if her health holds (which I think is a big IF), she is looking very strong.

Unfortunately, that's not the point. The same bleating flocks that brought Obama in based on nothing other than his being a half-black guy who could shout "Change" over and over will bring her in based on name recognition, the fact that there are no other viable candidates, and the fact she is allegedly female. If you read the article, it makes some very good points - not on why she SHOULD be elected, but on why she WILL be.

WTF happened to politics? It used to be about visions on how to make life better for all people and giving them a purpose, but now the 'media is ready to crown a queen'. You and Boon Mee will quarrel about her for many years, and not realise that she's appointed to fcuk both of you.

She´s got the party machine and the private big money donors. The other top Dems won´t run if she does.

I think this says it all.

And as you note, it is up to her health.

Mrs. Clinton has them shaking in their boots, three years out.

The Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, has sent letters to CNN and NBC asking them to cancel planned programming about former First Lady, U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Priebus says that if the programs are not canceled, he will recommend that the RNC not partner with NBC News or CNN for primary debates once the 2016 election season begins.

OK, she's got 'em 'shaking in their boots' but what has she accomplished to be considered a viable candidate for the highest office in the land?

Honest question that keeps getting ignored.

What has she done on her own accord?

"Hillary has never been a great politician, given a moving speech, or had a compelling message. Pretty much her only qualifications are 1) that she's married to Bill Clinton and 2) hated by the Right."

Same honest answer from me. It doesn't matter. The media decided you folks needed a sort-of-black President, so you got one (and oh how well that's worked out). The media will now decide it's time for a sort-of-female President, and you'll get Billary. The Republicans have nobody. The media will decide (and has got the flock pretty well prepped already). Voters will bleat, and Bingo - eight years of Billary - which is what they deserve.

That's not entirely accurate depending on your POV.

Any one of the following would be preferable to Billary:

    Ted Cruz
    Paul Ryan
    Rick Perry
    Bobby Jindal

And you want a Black Woman President?

    Condi Rice.

Rice is an educator - not a President - and has no interest. None of the four above have Billary's name recognition - I doubt if 5/100 sheep could identify a photo of even one of them. I think possibly I could pick out Ryan.

That's exactly what I mean about Low-Information Voters. No offense directed your way 'cause you don't live in the States (neither do I).

Those four individuals apart from Rice have been in the News quite regularly over the past few years so it really all boils down to this pernicious need of the left-wing media to pump up HRC with, for example, these mini-series they're doing attempting to get out ahead of the possible Benghazie fallout.

What do you bet NBC, CBS, ABC etc don't mention a word about Whitewater or Travel-Gate let alone Vince Foster.

I had to look up Bobby Jindal. Was thinking, "sounds like a Sukhumvit tailor". And, lo and behold, I was pretty much on the money....Never fucking heard of him, never seen his picture. The flock might be ready for Billary, but not for a dot-head tailor.

He's made a good name for himself there in Louisiana and across the States.

What's significant about Jindal is he's of East Indian extraction in a Red Neck state. Attitudes have evolved there from the Huey P. Long and Edwin Edwards days to a more pragmatic, objective look at getting things done in LA. He's smart.

Why not go again for SARAH PALIN ?????
She has a great record on top of it.
Politician, commentator and author who served as Governor of Alaska,
    what more do you want?
And she has of course the name recognition you are looking for.
Let's all vote for SARAH PALIN !!!!!
There used to be a time that several members of this forum adored she.... but perhaps did they changed their opinions by now.
    PALIN, PALIN, PALIN
