Amercia! Epic Mitt Romney App Gaffe Goes Viral Online

Mitt Romney launched an official iPhone app Tuesday night — only to find that it came with one glaring, humiliating oversight for his campaign.

Here’s how the free app works: You take a photo, then are able to lay one of 14 “I’m With Mitt” banners over the image. The banners shout slogans such as “I’m a Mom for Mitt.” Then you can post the photo directly to Facebook or Twitter, or email it to a friend. The friend then receives a message reading: “I’m with Mitt Romney in 2012. And here’s a photo showing my support. Check it out!”

The problem? One of the 14 options reads, in fact, “A Better Amercia.” Yes, Amercia. A-M-E-R-C-I-A.

Just a couple hours after the app was officially announced, the Twittersphere and online peanut gallery were already having a field day with the editorial oversight. Obama supporters, media and general snarkmeisters reveled in taking photos with the glitchy app and inserting “Amercia” into some of Romney’s most memorable campaign quotes.

UPDATE: Mitt Romney’s “With Mitt” iPhone app no longer includes the “Amercia” typo.

Tuesday was a big night for Romney, and the app’s release was intended in part to help celebrate his likely capture of the Republican presidential nomination after the Texas primary. Zac Moffatt, Romney’s digital director, told Mashable Thursday afternoon that the app was meant to be a simple way for Romney backers to show their pride as the candidate took a big symbolic step toward the White House.

Mitt is coming on strong. For example Gallup asked people recently to describe their economic views. By more than a two-to-one margin (46%-20%) Americans called themselves some shade of conservative instead of liberal. Even moderates (32%) outnumbered liberals.

Regular folks know the economy still sucks and isn't showing any signs of improvement. In fact, consumer confidence has flat-lined. So, how do economically troubled middle-class voters feel about the two major party candidates in 2012? Romney kills again, 58% for the former governor to 32% for the Democrat with the composite girlfriends. Not bad for a Republican who's supposed to have difficulty connecting with regular people.

Romney captures big margins among those white voters who've lost jobs or have family/friends who've lost jobs in recent times.

What ever happened to that so-called 'slam-dunk', eh?

The Chocolate Jesus is getting hammered from left, right and center these days. Check this out where 'ol bubba even applauds Mitt's experience:

President Bill Clinton veered sharply off message Thursday, telling CNN that Mitt Romney's business record at Bain Capital was "sterling."

No wonder Obama leads Romney in Massachusetts by 25 points,...... (http://www.suffolk.edu/images/conten...2012_FINAL.pdf)

Massachusetts knows Romney, (his record as governor there) and they don’t like him.

Heh, maybe Elizabeth Warren isn’t really an Indian or the mother of the Marxist Occupy Wall Street movement. But voters still have a reason to vote for her; she is the first nursing mother to take the bar exam in New Jersey. Watch this expert comedienne deliver the line with a straight face:

Given the inordinate amount of attention Liz Warren is receiving from the Koch attackbot's, maybe there is something special about the gal. Lets see-

Elizabeth Warren (nee Herring, born June 22, 1949) is an American bankruptcy law expert, policy advocate, Harvard Law School professor, and Democratic Party candidate in the 2012 United States Senate election in Massachusetts. She has written several academic and popular books concerning the American economy and personal finance. She contributed to the oversight of the 2008 U.S. bailout program, and also led the conception and establishment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Warren attended The George Washington University and the University of Houston. She received a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Newark in 1976. Warren taught law at several universities and was listed by the Association of American Law Schools as a minority law professor throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In the wake of the U.S. financial crisis, Warren served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the Troubled Assets Relief Program in 2008. She later served as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under U.S. President Barack Obama.

Elizabeth Herring was born June 22, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to working class parents Pauline (née Reed) and Donald Jones Herring. She was the Herrings' fourth child, with three older brothers. When Warren was twelve, her father, a janitor, had a heart attack, which led to a pay cut, medical bills, and eventually the loss of their car. Her mother answered phones at Sears and Warren worked as a waitress.

Elizabeth Warren - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pretty good resume' then- and a working class person made good, which somehow doesn't seem to fit into the Republican script these days. Of course, Right wingers pathologically despise her seminal role in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau too, they do not believe the public deserves any consumer protection at all- it is a barrier to snake oil salesmen doing business. She is running against Scott Brown in Massachusetts, and you can tell by the RW blogosphere frenzy that they are worried she will win. She may well too, but Scott Brown also happens to be one of the few moderate Republicans in the House (in neo-con speak, a Rino). I'd prefer she were running against a rabid Teabagger.

You are seriously delusional. Anyone who would continue to tell tall tales about her grandmother - you're supposed to stop digging when you hit bottom, you know. Check out this video where it shows Elizabeth Warren telling another tall tale about her family. The day after she announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate, Democrat Elizabeth Warren told the convocation at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Not fit for a Senate seat. Perhaps she can run for city dogcatcher after folks truly learn what she is. Got into Harvard like Obama with this 'minority' tag. You know, the poor oppressed minoritys!

Haven't even mentioned the other scandal she's mixed up in like house-flipping. A female John Edwards in the lies she's been spinning. Well, we have until November to totally bring it all to light.

What is though is her claim to that 1/32.

Her whole track record of lying to gain political advantage will be out before the fine voters of MA to witness.

Oops, Dim Mitt has a Solyndra moment: Dim Mitt's big green flop - BostonHerald.com

Lowell solar panel company he backed goes under

A Bay State solar panel developer that landed a state loan from Mitt Romney when he was Massachusetts governor has gone belly up — a day after the GOP presidential hopeful ripped President Obama’s green-energy investments.

Lowell-based Konarka Technologies announced late yesterday that it filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and will cease operations, lay off its 85 workers and liquidate.

Oh Dim Mitt you are a piece of work,.........

Romney's (Non) Military Record Faces New Scrutiny: http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2012...pagewanted=all

On a stage crowded with war heroes, Mitt Romney recently praised the sacrifice "of the great men and women of every generation who serve in our armed services."

It is a sacrifice the Republican presidential candidate did not make.

Though an early supporter of the Vietnam War, Romney avoided military service at the height of the fighting after high school by seeking and receiving four draft deferments, according to Selective Service records.

    ^ Sure.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.
The term was popularised in the United States by Mark Twain (among others), who attributed it to the 19th-century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881): "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

    BUT...

the phrase is not found in any of Disraeli's works and the earliest known appearances were years after his death. Other coiners have therefore been proposed.

Erm, libbie press also says Mariel Hemingway coined "Never complain, and never explain".WTF is going on?

    Character is an issue,.........

When Mitt Romney was a college freshman, he told fellow residents of his Stanford University dormitory that he sometimes disguised himself as a police officer – a crime in many states, including Michigan and California, where he then lived. And he had the uniform on display as proof.

So recalls Robin Madden, who had also just arrived as a freshman, the startling incident began when Romney called him and two or three other residents into his room, saying, “Come up, I want to show you something.” When they entered Romney’s room, “and laid out on his bed was a Michigan State Trooper’s uniform.”

Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over the years as he observed his former classmate’s political ascent. The National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to whom he had mentioned it years ago.

Said Madden in a recent interview, “He told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father,” George Romney, then the Governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. “He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler.”

In Madden’s recollection, confirmed by his wife Susan, who also attended Stanford during those years, “we thought it was all pretty weird. We all thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty creepy.’ And after that, we didn’t have much interaction with him,” although both Madden and Romney were prep school boys living in the same dorm, called Rinconada.

Other eyewitnesses have previously recalled Romney’s alleged use of a police or trooper uniform in pranks during his high school years at the exclusive Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Phillip Maxwell, a prep school buddy, told the New Republic in 2008 that Romney had pulled over students from a girls school next door to Cranbrook while wearing a police uniform as a prank. Other former classmates described Mitt as a “happy-go-lucky guy known less for his achievements and more for his pranks.”

In The Real Romney, a biography published by Boston Globe reporters Michael Kranish and Scott Helman this year, another former friend recalled how Romney had “put a siren on top of his car and chased two of his friends who were driving around with their dates.” The two friends were in on the scheme, but the girls were not. There was beer in the car trunk, according to a prearranged plan. Mitt told his two counterparts to get out of their vehicle and into his car. Then they drove off, leaving the girls behind.

“It was a terrible thing to do,” said one of his accomplices, a Cranbrook classmate named Graham McDonald.

To some observers, Romney’s alleged masquerading as a cop to intimidate innocent drivers shows a character defect that is also revealed by other bullying incidents during his youth. When those incidents were disclosed in the Washington Post earlier this year, Romney issued an apology of sorts, stating that he had done “stupid” things and was sorry if he had harmed anyone.

While he may have believed that his cop antics were harmless, Romney may well have been breaking the law merely by donning a police uniform, committing a crime if he pretended to be a cop and a felony if he did so more than once. In both California and Michigan, any person convicted of fraudulently impersonating a police officer may be sentenced to up to one year in prison. (The National Memo has collected some other examples of police impersonators.)

The Romney campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

So....back in the late 1960s....if this joke is true and did happen......do you think Romney should be ineligible to run for President?

    My points is:

once again we are hearing stupid, irrelevant, useless and baseless bullsh*t during an election year.

Clinton smoke but didn't inhale. GWB might have gotten 1 or 2 DWIs, George H. Bush (Bush 41) might have had an affair in the 1940s.

    Relevant? No. Provable? No.

Will any voter base their voting decision on this? No.

    Typical irrelevant bullsh*t? Yes.

Is impersonating a police officer a crime? Yes

Should Dim MItt be punished or held accountable? Yes (as a criminal)

    Will it happen? No

Why? Because he’s a privileged asshole (daddy was governor) and among the elite who think they are above the law.

^ Is that supposed to be a picture of Romney or is this just another fake memory from a "friend"? So, as it was a prank, you gonna go after Prince Harry, too, for wearing a nazi uniform to a party?
