I agree and would be off like a shot to Singapore or even Malaysia, but the mrs would never live in another SEA country. I might have to clear off home in the next year or two, Thailand does get on your tits after nearly a decade.

Yes indeed, take off back to your old home base...no doubt all the reasons you left have vanished...its now paradise.

No it's far worse, but at least there are no soi dogs barking shitting and biting, bastard neighbors playing music on PA systems from their homes, no going to immigration every 90 days, most speak English and even Eastenders looks like Shakespeare compared to Thai TV. In general people are not afraid of the cops flagging them down for bribes, people usually obey the highway code, or at least know left from right and you are not likely to be piss tested on the street for something you last took 30 years back. I think I would miss the amusing incompetence you come across every day here, but not for long.

    A good summation

No offense taken. I am neither Malaysian nor Malay nor in any way connected to this country.
How do you mean boring? What do you do where you live that you can't do here, how is where you live not boring compared to here?

The political system doesn't lend itself to mass unrest - it is a system based on common law and though one state (Kelantan) has been fighting to introduce hudud (Islamic penal code), they have been thwarted at every turn . . . Malaysian Muslims don't want anything that will make Islam more hardline. Oh, and neither do the 40% of the population that aren't Muslim.
Want a beer or pork anything? Loads of pubs around. Pork to cook at home? Supermarkets.
    Churches? All over the place.

It definitely is not what one would think of a 'Muslim country'

Penang is going through a transformative phase. The state government (Chinese government, not Malay) has brought even more prosperity to the island and now the infrastructure has to catch up.
The airport is abysmal considering the destination . . . and the state government has plans for a large scale refurbishment with funds from bth state and federal

This bitch should have her benefits stopped and given a fcuking bicycle to stop her getting bored.

Unemployed woman, 21, who has never had a job and weighs 32 stone because she 'eats when she's bored' lives on £18,000 benefits a year instead - more than a nurse's salary
    • Rochelle Coulson, from New Milton, gets equivalent to £22k taxable salary
    • That is more than a nurse's starting wage and the same salary as a teacher
    • Ms Coulson claims she cannot work because she falls asleep unexpectedly
    • Doctors said she must lose weight, but Ms Coulson wants a state-funded support worker to help her write meal plans

Pretty much everything except for 60% of the population, their mosques, half the muslim women who wear a headscarf -the other half are also muslim, of course . . . they just don't wear any coverings.

You want halal food? Go for it. You want non-halal food? Go for it.

You want to go to mosque? Go for it. You want to go to church/temple? Go for it.

Now, how is Malaysia different from countries without a Muslim majority?

Malaysia: 17 arrested for plotting jihad terror attacks in Kuala Lumpur.

The Islamic State continues to demonstrate its global appeal for Muslims, while non-Muslim authorities continue to insist that it has nothing to do with Islam. “Malaysia: 17 arrested on suspicion of plotting terror attacks in Kuala Lumpur,” OneIndia, April 6, 2015:

Seventeen people, including two who returned from Syria recently, were arrested in the capital of Malaysia on Sunday on suspicion of plotting terror attacks , official sources said."

What is it that appeals to these nutters???

What is wrong with that? I used to live in Indonesia. The calls to prayer give the place an exotic feel. Quite melodic if the guy has a good voice. After a while one gets accustomed and does not really notice.

Exotic feel and melodic what a load of ballcocks,to me it sounds more like someone trying to have a dump 4 or 5 times a day.
Here is my moan of the day.I have to work with the uneducated and indoctrinated muslims every day [except friday when they all go to see the fella thats been dumping all week].A list would look like this if i were rating on work ethics
    the worst first
    Omani's [Just a lazy people]
    Paki's [Thick as]
    Bangla's [tryers but thick]
    Indians [clever liars]
    Nepalese [Quite good scaffers]
I would put the Thai's between the Bangla's and the Indians. The only good thing going for the Indians is there aint many Muslims there all Hindi. It's like grounhog day trying to teach any of them anything!!

Yet, still considered quite moderate - even progressive - as modern "Islamic States" might be referred towards.

You [et al] need to balance out your conditioned racist hatred and allow your visions to open up a tad.

Rick"BigGame"Thai would have shot that on sight and mounted her tusks in his den, telling visitors engaging stories of life in the bush over aperitifs of semen spiced with African Acacia essence extracted from sweet Juan.....

Not a all . . . he's the only person I'd ever met with Münchausen syndrome and his stories of derring-do were enthralling.

Whether it was Rick being a decorated war hero in three conflicts (Korea, Vietnam and Iraq) - even though his own timelines don't match, a big game hunter who killed a leopard that walked into his tent while he was hunting elephants with steak knives . . .

He had it all . . . including beating a big 'negro' sportsman in his 20s he lured into a fight while Rick was recouperating from a severe operation and in his 50s.

He was TD's only 'Real Man'.
