^ yes, their innovation in these areas helps consumers by pushing the industry forward; companies such as Samsung and ASUS are forced to react which means that us consumers have more choice, variety and better products. I'm not keen on Apple, but imagine where we'd be without them, probably some way back...

^its never good to have a sigle dominate player in any mart. they get arrogant, greedy and lazy. having at least 2 dominant players in the market fighting and feeding off each other is always good for the customer. Intel vs AMD, apple vs samsung, google nokia?
Its a bit of a shame that the US government is so obsessed with allowing patents to kill this innovation off.

The public are a fickle bunch though. All the wailing and gnashing of teeth when Steve Jobs died, FFS you'd think he'd found the cure for cancer.
That kind of dumb loyalty alone is worth a $50 price difference to Apple.

^^He may not have a found a cure, but he certainly found a good way to turn a relatively treatable cancer into a shore fire killer.

Brand loyalty is simply a manifestation of the phycology of choice and the way in which humans are hard wired to make quick decisions. Its something marketing people exploit and something you have to active choose to override.

Actually quite a lot of it is subliminal, watch some of Derren Brown's "Mind Games". Amazing how many people can be programmed to think without even knowing it.

Very much so, Betty's in to it in a big way... though I am under the impression that its not in an evil, manipulative professional way. but I am not sure thats because its the truth or because he is successfully evil and manipulative

I use my skills and subliminal messages to try and move Socal away from his homosexual fetishes, but he is proving to be an unusually hard nut to crack, as the actress said to the vicar, as Socal said to Emma...

... are you an idiot? Pancreatic cancer is not a "relatively treatable form of cancer" - its a nearly 100% killer.

Buttons and command lines. We'd have Barracude insist that typing complicated commands into his phone is a superior way of dialing, and we'd probably not be having this conversation in a graphical environment (the WWW was invented and conceptualized on a NeXT computer - another Jobs thing).

People like some of the trolls on here don't seem to understand how much they owe their current environment to things Jobs pushed forward.

Now you're just trying to distract from the points I made, notably that you misrepresent and lie while you're being consumed by your usual Anti-Apple hatred.

It's unfortunate, because there's certainly room for rational and informed discussion about the various platforms, but zealots like yourself won't allow that. You're no different than Butterfly guy.

we are all idiots from time to time, but today its not my turn. Mr jobs had a rather rare form of pancreatic cancer called a neuroendocrine tumour, this can be surgically cured if caught early enough. Jobs decided to wait 9 months after its discovery, whilst he tried out various alternative treatments, before opting for surgery.

Oh, that's what you meant. Neuroendocrine PC is still no bed of roses, and it just has the potential for seriously extending your life expectancy, versus "dead in 6 months".

Agreed, absolutely not smart for Jobs to deliberately delay a life-saving operation to give same magical hocus pocus herbs "a chance". As you, I too believe that by delaying this surgery he sealed his fate to where the tumor progressed to the stage whereas he only delayed the inevitable. I mostly blame the sub-community of "alternative medicine idiots" who will blast all over forums and Facebook, claiming. "cancer can be cured" with some bullshit herb diet.

... yeah, on this particular situation, Jobs was an idiot.

Thanks for the clarification, explanation, and sorry for the "idiot" bit. Raincheck?

Jobs was a nutter, a complete one. He wasn't raised in a religious family or didn't find existing religion interesting enough, so like Jesus, he invented his own and got a lot of followers.

If we are lucky, apple will last 2000 years as a cult, like Christianity did

sure they are nutters, doesn't mean we should support the west to attack them, above all when the west is no better than those they oppose in their illegal war

Er, the West isn't attacking them, Butters. You should actually read some of the threads you comment in.

It's a civil and sectarian war.

Bit like Apple vs Android really.

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth
