I see your point. Its got to be hard for you to hold an iPad in your left hand whilst vigorously exercising your right hand, I guess apart from hygiene, as you pointed out, tablets are not very tosser friendly.
well, no, they are very tosser friendly, because you can wipe the sperm off the fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating of the screen more easily... using water

Suggestions on a Ford Ranger pickup cover.
    Motorbike detachable luggage/carrier suggestions.
The new lambo in Exotic cars, Rama 2; is it worth a test drive?
Should I go for the new Asus Transformer or just buy a simple and cheap iPAD 2?

Last I checked, most of the 5,000 units that were per-ordered upon "launch" didn't actually get sold either. Sounds like a successful product for an autistic niche market.

Yep, wouldn't touch it with the proverbial bargepole:

British retailer Clove has stopped selling Asus' Transformer Prime device over quality control concerns. Clove, which specializes in shipping mobile products, has canceled all existing orders and will not sell any Prime units "until further notice." The company claims it has tested its existing stock because of complaints of faults, and it is not satisfied that the units are working correctly.
Asus' Transformer Prime has suffered from a number of bugs and quirks since its introduction last year. Asus says it is hopeful it will fix some random lockups in February that users are experiencing following the recent Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. The company has also identified an issue with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth fallout that it plans to fix this month. The Prime GPS issues are well documented, but Clove's halt on sales shows that some UK customers have been complaining about the faults enough to force a retailer to pull its availability.
Asus extended the warranty of the Transformer Prime in the UK, from 12 to 18 months previously, and the company has responded to Clove's sales halt denying that there are any issues. "We have conducted extensive testing on the Transformer Prime in laboratory conditions and the device is performing as expected in all areas," said an Asus spokesperson, speaking to CNET UK. "We refute any and all claims from third parties regarding the quality of our products."

Not yet. Too busy with other projects to really look into which one best suits, and not in need of one yet.

It's a good buy for 13,500 - it's hard to beat at that money. But, you can buy tablets with similar functionality for 100-150 squid, so...

the iPad is a bargain, but again you have to discount it for being a bit of a POS, above all with that horrible iTunes who needs 4GB of RAM just to launch

So if that's the case, then what other pad rivals the ipad?

I was always led to believe that ASUS built quality stuff?

definitely no need for a tablet with 3g if you already have a phone with it. Just configure phone as mobile wifi access point (only turn it on when you need it or you'll kill your battery). If you're out and about with your tablet, you're sure to be carrying your phone as well.

If in Bangkok with a TRUE or AIS unlimited 3G package, you also get unlimited access to their wifi network (but TRUE coverage of those is much better than AIS).

Thanks for the reference - I like the way you phrased it "least problems" instead of "best device" ;-)

Seriously, there were also several enthusiasts (for lack of a better term) round these parts that continually praised the Asus Transformer as the next iPad killer ... yet they never had any plans to buy one. Most people praising iPad *have* one and speak from experience. ;-)

Just take the eternal curmudgeon, HarryBarracuda, for example - keeps dripping hateful bile about all things iPad and Apple, yet doesn't actually use one, and has no idea how to operate it.

My personal impression of Android tablets, so far, is that most are are of shoddy, rushed quality, and invariably held back by an unfinished (at best) operating system. I had high hopes for Android initially, but so far it has been mostly a disappointment.

Currently, what appears to be the best tablet, though, is the one Google just announced and released, their Nexus tablet - best specs (for whatever that's worth) and actually will run Android 4.x (again, for whatever that's worth). Basically, one of my few requirements from a tablet is that it is instantly responsible to my interaction with the screen, and that it has very long battery life. The iPad provides both - instant responsiveness, and 9-10 hour battery life. Android tablets fail on both counts.

They sell so much stuff that on percentage its probably true; laptops, motherboards, tablets.

But this is a particular embarrassment, and I think they must have known early on as they've announced several new models before this one even hit the stores.

Mobile Flash was declared EOL within Adobe 3 months before Steve Jobs actually died. Just as desktop Flash has already been declared dead (there are no more engineers on that team) within Adobe, but if you ask for an official statement, you will receive the boilerplate "we continue to support Flash as a viable platform on the desktop"

I don't think Mobile flash was declared dead three months before Steve Jobs actually died, on account of me downloading an update in the last three weeks, and Adobe promising to keep providing security patches for current versions (how quickly they'll tire of that extremely repetitive task on their par, I don't know).

Let me make it clear to you.

    Flash is still alive.
    Steve is dead.

I know you dearly wish it were the other way around, but it isn't.

    It's time to move on.
