THE THAI EMBASSY in London is attempting to contact a Thai family who were living in the fire-ravaged Grenfell Tower block in west London.

While the death toll is still rising, authorities confirmed yesterday that 17 people had been confirmed dead in the inferno while saying that “sadly the number will increase” as they no longer expected to find anyone alive in the unstable, burned-out high rise. Dozens of residents were reported missing.

The fire broke out at the 24-storey public housing tower block in a working-class area of the capital on Wednesday.

The tower was home to about 600 people, including at least three Thai families, according to Thai officials and other Thais in London.

why were 3 Thai families an Ethiopian who started the fire and so many other foreigners living in a social housing block built for British Londoners? Looks like 90% were of foreign origin, that's the real tragedy, what the politicians have done to London.

Went out with a Gambian in 1991 in London and she was living in a council property sub letting and illegal. After 26 years of letting the scum of the world into the UK the place is overcrowded and full.

The majority of British, indigenous Londoners wouldn't be seen dead in that sort of accommodation.

They are no longer the majority though are they, driven out by unaffordable property and rent prices and a tsunami of asylum seekers and illegals. Asylum used to be for spy's and the odd ballet dancer now it's for any economic migrant who cannot meet the visa rules.

Many of these flats are illegally sub-let by absentee council tenants

2 bed flat there is easily £300 pw but more likely £50-60 per bed space and 3-4 to a room. So a two bed flat full of illegals can easily make £600 pw. Not a bad tax free screw if you're living in Lahore and the extended family has ten of these flats on the go, for no other outlay than time served on a housing list

My own GP was mugged on that estate doing a house call. I used to swim at the leisure centre. The estate is dangerous and awash with drugs

The media has done a stellar job of focusing on the respectable community. The reality is cery different

Indeed, there were two young Italians living there who are missing, I believe. Both new to London and working there. Obviously sub-let illegally by the tenant.

These tower blocks proliferate everywhere in London and are all mostly inhabited by the more recent immigrant 'waves'. Peckham North End was the quintessential estate and about as far removed from the Fools and Horses fantasy as you could get.

As they get more established and aspirations extend to greater horizons, they eventually disperse to better accommodation leaving the social housing for the next wave. Normal really but the increasing gentrification in conjunction with ever increasing costs of living mean that pretty soon no fucker who needs to earn a living can afford to actually live in London.

So a big crack down needed on illegal sub letting resulting in evictions of the tenants as they do not need the housing. That would free up thousands of properties for the homeless, but oooh wait a minute there would be an obvious problem with that.
