Then I take it you're not very familiar with British history or society. Britain has been a nation of immigrants for a long time now, at least 200 years. People have been complaining about it for exactly the same period of time. Many of the names some people consider foreign are 4th or 5th generation British now. You say you mean no offence, if that is true then take the time to learn something about the history and causes of immigration to Britain. Even a quick read of a wiki article on the subject will guve you a much better understanding of the subject than many here have.
Bob doing his best to explain how an extra 3 million have arrived in the past few years, it's not immigrants Bob that is the problem, it's the numbers, as this event indicates. London has been changed forever by mass immigration and now whites are in a minority, we are awash with low skilled third world immigrants like the taxi driver.

    ^ Well put, Thai3.

Trouble is, as soon as anyone says we should reduce immigration, to a more manageable level, they (we) are branded a racist or bigot... just gotta put up and shut-up...

Like I said 70% of Kiwis polled wanted immigration reduced, will the government listen? will they fuck...

Every main party in the UK says we must reduce the numbers, and former labour ministers now admit the mass immigration in the 90's was a big mistake. We should have done what Australia did, keep the buggers out and process them off shore, just let in the ones to benefit the country and not the ones who will be on benefit forever. Asylum should mean genuine cases not having passed through several counties first and not economic migrants who just want to bypass immigration laws.

Not the place to bash immigrants, yes... due to the majority of them being the victims in the fire..

To say their numbers should be reduced is hardly bashing them...

Like I said twice already before, it never crossed my mind what nationality the victims were, still felt just as sorry for them as I would any other human being.

Did you know that the UK provided more migrants to the rest of the world than any other country in Europe and in terms of percentage of population of citizens living outside of the UK, Britain is the 10th largest migrant country in the fucking world.

You useless spastic, racist, bigoted little turd.

A bunch of dead people certainly aren't important to him - in the context of this thread he'd rather take the opportunity to vent his vile racism, ignorance and hatred of some pop star.

A terrible thing to be trapped on a high floor of one of these human ant hills they build in cities when the thing catches fire.

Seems lax building codes and poor quality material used in refurbishing may have been a significant factor in the quick spread of the fire.

How many of you live in one of these high rise death traps they call condos here in Thailand?

We are constantly told on these pages how bad Thailand is and how useless Thai's are, considering this can happen in London how safe does that make you feel up there in your condo, do you have a plan in case of a fire, might pay to think about it.

We have two fire exit stairwells, sprinkler systems everywhere, regular alarm testing, the building is of slipform concrete construction with no external cladding and the wingman and I have two fine amulets which ward off evil and will permit us to fly in extremis.

You Birdbrain, on the other hand, have no protection from your greatest threat, your own stupidity.

In reality this all is going to come down to a perfect storm scenario.

Immigrants and possibly 3rd world electrical daisy chains.

Same immigrants likely not knowing the safety/fire procedures about closing doors & fire isolation.

Cladding that was somehow unknowingly easily ignitable

Fire evacuation planning & procedures that didn't cover a fire like this.

I read somewhere that fire alarms didn't go off? At least for a while? Thats insane if true.

Shelter in place seems fucking retarded to me regardless of the logic that "you should have time for the FD to arrive" and the "buildings are made to withstand etc.." Somethings on fire? GTFO.

End of the day its going to be several issues that led to this incident.

The significant factor in this was that the tenants refused/voted to not have a sprinkler system installed in the refurbishing of the flats. That's my understanding.

Great....if this had happened in Bangkok we'd be reading here all about how it was typical of Thailand, the implication being that it was a hundred times less likely to happen in our home countries. But it happens in London and is the implication 'well, it could happen anywhere they're trying to skimp on costs'.

    No.

It's still 'This is 100 times more likely to happen in Bangkok'.

Amusing to read how overpowering the myopia of the white western male can be.

Prag...IF that is true then it really shouldn't have ever been something that was put to the vote of residents.

    its a fucking mess.

the perfect storm of a diluted brexit, an election turnaround, islamic attacks, the rise of corbyn the evil communist and his grim faced thug henchmen, the towering inferno and of course teresa mays abysmal performances over the past month have all combined in a maelstom of madness that will surely result in violent anarchy on the streets of england with the middle classes cowering behind their curtains as hapless and bewildered chinless tories are being hanged drawn and quartered on lamposts whilst fat shaven headed council tenants, their tattooed slag wives, ugly benefit cheats and swarthy immigrants run riot and cavort drunkenly in the abandoned mansions of the filthy rich.

Err, a convenient exeunt for a body shirking its statutory duties. And how was it presented to the residents? Do you want to put up with another two years of disruption for a measure which isn't probably worth it and has no real value in a fire? Or was it " Do you want to do without a sprinkler system and run the real risk of your babies burning to death because the smoke of a fire has choked the fucking life out of you?"

Yep, Mr Honda/Toyota/Ford, the people have voted to keep costs down and to do without brakes on the back wheels.

Next thing, Prag, you'll be blaming children for their fucking cancer because their parents had faulty genes, you silly erk.

Err, you forgot that the nationalists of Occupied Ireland will be sending the bodies of your colonial orphans, plantation slave children of the British, back to their motherland in wee bags.

I told you English twats Brexit was a mistake but you wouldn't listen. May has been crucified on the cross of her unyielding, sclerotic pig-headedness and is now suffering the curse of the righteous raining pestilence, fire and economic destruction on her pointy little head and her ghastly, sanctimonious hypocritical acolytes.

People have had enough of being patronised and lied to and when the full force of Brexit penury hits the ordinary Joe then you will see those streets filling up with the blood and tears of any fucker stupid enough to flaunt his wealth.

I do recall Mervyn King back in 2009 saying that the penalty for any government retrieving the banks from the precipice of their destruction would be the anger of the ordinary people whose economic lives were to be forfeited for a decade as the price to pay in order to save those institutions.

Its that old game of musical chairs Tax and this time May is the one whose sorry, scrawny, tight arse is to sacrificed and thrown to the wolves when the music stops.

What you are now hearing is the last refrain, the last stanza and the beginning of the last dying chord....the death knell of Theresa May.

brexit was not a mistake, a pragmatic settlement from our "friends" in brussels would be to the benefit of all, but they have a political point to make and they will use their position of power to make it, milking it for all its worth as they go along. how i hate those eurocrats.

it is all looking very bad for teresa though, i'll grant you, very bad, but its not quite over yet. fat ladies singing, phoenix, ashes and all that.

thankfully i'm off back next month to visit my money and maybe some family members too. might be wise to keep the bentley parked up and use the old nissan dont you think.

Then blame everyone else, stupid kunts. The Ethiopian 'asylum seeker' needs to answer a few questions

1 why did he not tackle the fire

2 why did he leave the door open to his flat, did he have the windows open as well

3 what make was the fridge, was it over loaded and was it connected direct to the socket

4 why did he waste time packing his bags when there was a fire in the kitchen, hardly normal behavior

or should he not be questioned in case he gets a bit upset?

Many aspects of this need to be looked at.
The most pressing of them is not how one resident dealt with an appliance catching fire.
Unless you happen to be a desperately disillusioned old man on an internet forum who is fixated on ethnicity.

So, it was caused indirectly because of immigration? Those shady landlords and building contractors with Tory connections are lovely upstanding members of the community
