Is Trevor McDonald 80 ?
Is Trevor McDonald 80 ?
I am not trying to excuse his behaviour, but Garry Glitter has enjoyed the status of 'Britain's most famous pervert' for 15 years - and all the time he knew all his showbiz mates behaved broadly the same.
He took the flak without ever pointing out that they were all cut from the same cloth. That's quite a display of loyalty as he could have deflected the brickbats aimed at him.
Correct. Why didn't these 5 bitches, errr witches, come out of the closet (on their brooms....) at some earlier time? If they had had a conscience and it was bothering them, then they didn't have any courage. If they didn't feel bad about it then mutual consent, possibly?
Come on, now, let's get over it. Are you seriously offended that a 14 year old girl admits to have had sex? And, if she doesn't feel bad about it, why should you? And don't say she was too young to know better. She's not too young now and could cop out the guy, if she wanted.
From a biological perspective, is it wrong to have sex with teenage girls? (now don't get me wrong: i'm just talking about 13 and up) If so, then why do they have periods?
I understand Wyman went to the police station after Yewtree was announced - but was told he wasn't under investigation as there had been no complaint made to the police by Mandy Smith (or by anyone else at that time) against him.
There's obviously a flawed logic at play there, as whether she complained or not, he'd still had intercourse with someone who couldn't give informed consent.
Seems as though Yewtree hasn't really gotten into rock stars yet. Jagger, Bowie, Noddy Holder, Alvin Stardust,
A friend of mine was molested as a young girl on a repeated basis by Arthur Negus
So setting aside whether she complained or not means society has to decide on the legality of the sex act based on arbitrary factors, such as the age of the participants. And when did the crime take place? If it happened 35 years ago, do you base the determination of legality on the laws as they were enforced then? And what if the laws are different today? Do you enforce the current laws? And, you know, the '60s were a pretty wild time, in certain quarters, and sexual liberation was certainly a feature of the '70s and '80s and, I believe, this current decade as well. But people, these days, are reverting to witch hunting. The believe their racist or pc or virtuous beliefs can be justified by simply pointing out that humanity is more evolved now.![]()
He used to present the antiques road show on bbc tv.
His speciality was furniture and he was reputed to be an expert on victorian tallboys and leathercovered edwardian pouffes.
Seems he liked young lasses too.
Pretty much. Wonder if he'll get a Christmas single / tour out this year? Good time for a comeback, imo. Compared to Savile and his pals, he probably might actually even seem fucking normal to a few Brits fed a daily media diet of this stuff.
Bet none of his pals ever took their computers in for repairs in the last 15 years either.![]()
His career is still as kaput as it was 12 months ago.
But its fair to say - Glitter never snitched. He didn't grass on his fellow dirty old men.
Regarding Arthur Negus. He used to fondle my friend's budding titties when she was 13, 14 yrs old. Will she snitch and go to the tabloids? Alas no.
I'm losing count and track , is this a newly revealed name ?
anyway he's up in court on aug 23
Operation Yewtree: DJ Dave Lee Travis charged with 11 counts of indecent assault
Dave Lee Travis, the former Radio 1 DJ, has been charged with 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault, the Crown Prosecution Service has announced.
The 68-year-old was arrested last November by officers from Operation Yewtree, investigating allegations of historical sexual offences.
He was subsequently re-arrested in March after further allegations emerged.
At the time he vehemently protested his innocence and said: "The last four months have been extraordinary. Allegations which I strongly deny have been put to me by the police and to which I have given full and complete answers. I have fully co-operated and my conscience is clear."
But today in a statement the CPS said it had authorised police to charge the DJ, under his real name David Patrick Griffin, with a range of offences dating back to 1977.
He faces 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault on nine women aged between 15 and 29.

Charged: Dave Lee Travis was the fourth celebrity to be arrested by detectives from Operation Yewtree
Veteran DJ Dave Lee Travis was charged with 12 sexual offences spanning a period of 30 years today.
The 68-year-old, also known as David Patrick Griffin, is accused of 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between
1977 and 2007 and relate to nine suspected victims aged between 15 and 29.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ was ordered to appear before a district judge at Westminster Magistrates’ Court next Friday, August 23.
According to his solicitor, Travis is 'disappointed and surprised' at the sex charges and denies wrongdoing.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Alison Saunders, of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS said: ‘We have carefully considered the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service as part of Operation Yewtree in relation to David Patrick Griffin, who was initially arrested on 15 November 2012 over allegations of sexual offences.
‘A file of evidence was passed to the CPS on 31 July 2013.
‘Having completed our review, we have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr Griffin to be charged with 11 counts of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.
‘These date from 1977 to 2007 and relate to nine complainants aged between 15 and 29 at the time of the alleged offending.
‘The decision to prosecute has been taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and the DPP's interim guidelines on prosecuting cases of child sexual abuse.
‘We have determined that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that a prosecution is in the public interest.’
Travis was the fourth celebrity to be arrested by detectives from Operation Yewtree, which was set up in the aftermath of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Dunno whether the police are going after big names or just putting the bigger names forward for charges ,, surely there must be a whole load more people involved in this other than well known people.
I aint defending any of these weirdo,s but I just hope the police have 100% got they're facts right ,, as naming and shaming these people publicly if theyre guilty or not is gonna cause the shit to stick forever .
No doubt ( some ) will be wrongly charged and end up suing the police ( taxpayers ) for huge 6 figure sums ,,,,,,, claimsareus vultures hovering
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()

Jim Davidson will not face sex charges, say prosecutors

BBC News - Jim Davidson will not face sex charges, say prosecutors
Jim Davidson had consistently denied the allegations against him
Comedian Jim Davidson will face no further action over alleged sexual offences, the CPS has said.
The 59-year-old was first arrested in January by detectives from Operation Yewtree, which was set up after the Jimmy Savile scandal - although his arrest was not linked to Savile.
He was re-arrested in March after further allegations emerged.
His solicitor, Henri Brandman, said that the comedian was "pleased" with the news.
Mr Davidson had consistently denied the allegations against him.
The CPS said it had considered 10 allegations against Mr Davidson but said the was "insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction in relation to all complaints".
A second man arrested at the same time as Mr Davidson, a 53-year-old from Hampshire, will also face no further action, the CPS said.
The Metropolitan Police said one allegation against Mr Davidson and referred to Operation Yewtree remains outstanding, but because it falls outside UK jurisdiction it has been referred to the relevant authority.
In a statement, Mr Brandman said: "My client Jim Davidson was, of course, arrested a number of months ago in respect of allegations of a historical sexual nature.
"He is pleased to have received news today that there will be no further action relating to the allegations."
Operation Yewtree was launched following revelations that Savile had sexually abused hundreds of young people and children over four decades.
The three strands of the operation encompass investigations into the actions of Savile; allegations against "Savile and others"; and complaints against other people unconnected to the Savile investigation.
So far, 14 people have been arrested under the operation. Three of these have been charged, including publicist Max Clifford and former BBC DJ Dave Lee Travis; five have been released without further action and six remain on police bail.

Cripes!
The reference to Manchester is interesting. Many years ago, there was a story going around to the effect that a well known crude comedian and club owner was a member of a paedophile ring in Manchester. It was said that they would gather in an upstairs room of a pub and young boys would be brought to them.
I found an old Sex Offenders Register in my loft the other day. Or thought I did. Turned out to be an old copy of the TV Times from 1973.
Former BBC Radio 1 presenter Dave Lee Travis has appeared in court, charged with 11 counts of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.
The allegations date from 1977 to 2007 and relate to nine female complainants aged between 15 and 29 at the time.
The 68-year-old, of Mentmore, Bucks, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court under his real name, David Patrick Griffin. He denies wrongdoing.
Mr Travis was bailed to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 6 September.
His solicitor Martin Bale indicated he would be pleading not guilty.
The former DJ spoke in court only to confirm his name, address and date of birth, and to query what the next hearing would involve.
Addressing reporters outside earlier, Mr Travis said he could not comment on the case against him, adding: "I'd like to speak for three hours to everybody to tell you the story."
He later said: "I either talk for a long time or I don't, and at the moment I'm not talking."
Mr Travis, a Radio 1 DJ between 1968 and 1993, had been questioned by police as part of Operation Yewtree, an investigation into historical claims of sexual offences linked to the entertainment industry.
He was first arrested in November 2012 and released on bail. He was rearrested in March and questioned about further allegations before being charged earlier in August.
Operation Yewtree was launched in the wake of sexual offence allegations against ex-TV presenter and Radio 1 DJ Jimmy Savile.
The operation has three strands. One is looking specifically at the actions of Savile and the second strand concerns allegations of sexual offences against "Savile and others".
Mr Travis's arrest falls within a third strand, relating to allegations against other people unconnected to the Savile investigation.

Freddie Starr re-bailed by Operation Yewtree police
Freddie Starr was arrested in November and re-arrested in April
Entertainer Freddie Starr has been re-bailed until October by officers investigating alleged sexual offences.
He was first arrested in November 2012 by detectives from Operation Yewtree - the police inquiry set up following the Jimmy Savile abuse revelations.
The allegations against Starr, 70, fall under the strand of the investigation known as Savile and others.
When he was previously re-bailed in June, Starr's lawyer said he hoped to soon be able to clear his name.
He had been due to answer his bail this month.
The Metropolitan Police have not named the performer but said in a statement that a man in his 60s from Warwickshire had been arrested in November and "has now been re-bailed to return pending further inquiries".
Starr was re-arrested in April by Yewtree officers when further allegations against him - unconnected to Savile - emerged. He has denied any wrongdoing throughout.
Yewtree is an inquiry into allegations of historical sexual abuse linked to the entertainment industry.
It was launched after it emerged the late BBC Radio One DJ and television presenter Jimmy Savile had subjected hundreds of young people and children to sexual abuse over more than five decades.
The operation has three strands. One concerns Savile's crimes exclusively, while a second relates to allegations against Savile and others.
The third strand concentrates on accusations which emerged as a result of the publicity surrounding Savile but which are unconnected to him.
Starr, who lives in Warwickshire, has previously denied claims that he groped a girl of 14 while in a BBC dressing room with Savile.
