First time I went to Kata was 87 and there was very little there then except a very pleasant atmosphere. Don't go to Phuket as too many tourists for my liking. Tend to stick to Tao.

Like many other places, Kata has been fooked, sad to say.

I've just looked over some pics of KPG and Chawaeng beach from maybe 18 years ago? Very nice; not sure about now.

Remember Bottle Beach, ahhhh. Generator off at 10pm, only one boat a day to come or go...

While digitizing the remaining slides I found this 25 year old photo of my wife with our son and a neighbour. She looks so young!
At the time she was pregnant with our daughter.





Besides that man everybody looked like a dwarf, not just my wife.

Yep, I first stumbled upon Tong Nai Pan in 87 walked over that killer mountain and the beauty of it blew me away.

No electric, bugger all backpackers and extremely friendly locals, Was hooked on Thailand after that.

I have some cracking hard copy photos but cant seem to upload them onto my putor in the right size ????

pissing me off as I'd love to make a thread about those happy times on the Pan.

A lot of free picture processing software is available. I like IrfanView as it is fairly easy to use. Resize to 800 pixel for the longer side of the picture. Use the resample method and probably apply the sharpen after resample option too. That's all in one step.

Then use the save for web function to further reduce filesize.

Even me mum has managed to get the old photos onto the 'puter', shouldn't be beyond a man of your many skills...

I don't calculate in foot. He was well over 2 meters. The one time in almost two years playing volleyball I got the ball at the net ahead of him is something to remember even 25 years later.

Got heaps of stuff from my travels before I bought a digital camera, Nepal, India early Bali and others.

Me mum bought some box which is basically a cheap digital camera pretending to be a scanner; it has done a good job of digitalizing her pics, get yourself one, cheap and easy.

Got a good scanner but the photo gig has got me well foked at the moment.

Are there any small children that live around your area and can sort out these 'puter' problems for you?

Funny you say that matey as its so true innit.

Got problems with the putor find the nearest primary school kiddie and they will sort it out in 2.5 seconds.

Its rarely the puters fault but my fault as I cant sort it.

Oh well cant be brilliant at everything.

Bought a good quality scanner for the sole purpose of sorting all my hard copy photos so I could do some nice threads on the Door.

I know there's nothing wrong with it but just aint cracked the resizing side of things even though its got all that stuff on it.

Sort of give up on it at the mo but will fire it up again when I feel like it and get the bastard thing cranking.

Be careful Terry, no lurking, you might be misunderstood and get yourself in trouble.

Scanners are a pain in the arse, but once you sort out the controls you'll be laughing; go back to the shop and ask for a bit of training/demo.
