It really doesn't.

For example luigi is a very stumpy chap, so with his short arms holding up a grain of sand between him and the sky, the grain would cover an area with billions more planets than it would for a normal sized person.

It's just a rather clumsy way of getting the concept across I guess, like a lot of these internet 'facts'.

The concept of quite big can be difficult to absorb.
