Cyrille I obviously live in a bigger tiny part of Thailand then you but then again that is not your fault.

I remember clothes were carefully re-folded.

About a month later some chav hopped over the garden fence and I sprinted after the fucker because I thought they were having another crack.

    Might have been the gardener.

Again, I have no idea what that means.

    Maybe it's me.

Or maybe even when trying to be conciliatory you really are an utter cock.

    Who can say?

My wife has a number of properties across Thailand and we are well aware of what is going on but have little chance of protecting those properties because we have left those properties vacant.

I live here in Pattaya but also spend a lot of time in Bangkok.

You have pigeon holed me here in Pattaya and according to your posts but as a nice bloke I am saying your are wrong.

But LT, we are only sexpats, impecunious pensioners, failed bar owners, or scrabbling Teflers (who can't get a real job elsewhere) here in Thailand. Aren't we?

    Tehe. See ya soon, incidentally.

    Understand Sabang.....

Some posters here are just arseholes with nothing to contribute but others who I have met in person who really contribute and people such as yourself and your wife I call good friends and people I trust.

I wonder if these other arseholes could count on one hand their good friends and people they could trust............

Ironically, it was my Thai wife & her relatives who nagged me for years about security, while I didn't give a fok until 2K$ of jewelry got 'lost'.

I think the ones who haven't noticed a change in Thailand are the guys that live in the middle of shit ville and only venture down to there corner shop for a beer each night and most likely spend many hours in front of their computer screen on TD instead of having a life.
Looks like Many recognise that Thailand is heading for rough time.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Thailand

Wikipedia paints a pretty bad picture of Thailand and mentions a lot about growing crime and growing drug issues.

Ah yeah, thanks Rigger I would never have guessed, you certainly have your finger on the pulse with reading links, unlike us isolated idiots here:
"Much of Thailand's crime is in urban areas where tourists congregate as they are easy targets, as well as where rampant prostitution and human trafficking feeds their vices. The prime areas of drug abuse are Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya"

I live on a university campus and I can fucking guarantee that in my day-to-day life, I come into contact with many, many, many more Thais and have a vastly greater exposure to Thai society than does some illiterate Australian gimp who seems to work in the Middle East.

A wiki article on Thailand where every single reference is to the English-language media. Tremendous. It was clearly written by some disillusioned Thaivisa-type cockhead with an ax to grind.

Presumably, blessed as you appear to be with the brain of a fucking goldfish, you've forgotten that you claimed to have greater exposure to/knowledge of what is going on in Thailand than I do and that was simply in virtue of your lifestyle/living arrangements. You work in the Middle East, right? And it seems that you're moving to Australia. I on the other hand work as a Thai to English translator and live in an environment where I am pretty much guaranteed to interact with large numbers of Thais on a daily basis. So, given those basic facts and, let's not forget, you are the one who introduced all this into the 'discussion', who do you think is likely to be the better informed?

I guess you are slightly mistaken as l have never claimed anything or even mentioned you. I really don't care what you think or how you think you may be better informed than me.
So as my thai wife also agrees Thailand crime has risen you believe you know more than a local well travelled thai with a vast net work of friends across the country. I am really impressed

Yes, you're right. You didn't claim anything, did you.

Your wife agrees with you? Well with an astonishing turn around like that, the issue is clearly settled, isn't it.

I have no idea if crime is increasing in Thailand. It's entirely possible that it is but the fact that a bunch of middle-aged foreign men who appear to live lives which are remarkably cut off from their environments claim that it is is hardly going to convince anyone. But then threads like this are very clearly much more about having one's prejudices confirmed than about working out what is and is not happening. In any case, the only way to know is to look at government stats or those of creditable researchers, not waste time listening to the cretinous musings of an idiot like you, those of your wife or indeed of any other individual who doesn't have some kind of specialist knowledge.

well you obviously care quite a bit because it would appear that you have been up all night fervently arguing with someone whom you insist is no more than an anonymous illiterate australian twat gimp.

It seems to be settling into a "I am more in touch" than you are thread.

I suppose logically, we all see a slightly different side of Thailand. Retirees, people working in non-TEFL jobs, TEFLers, people who live here part time are all going to have a different take, and feel they have a better finger on the pulse. People living in gated communities are going to have a different picture to those living in the village up country, and those living in bog standard sois might have another take entirely.

I suppose, if push comes to shove, I would have to throw my hat in the "things are not noticeably worse" ring. Personally not seen or heard of any marked upswing in crimes against either the Thais or the foreigners I work with. Crime will always be here of course (as elsewhere), and we have to be cautious in extrapolating a random cluster of events into a bigger picture.
