    ‘What are you drinking today’

Instead of a large spirit based drink, drowned in Coca Cola, I am experimenting with imported wines, as an evening nightcap.

I bought some Malbec, some Merlot and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. During the first bottle I switched from the fridge storage to room temperature (aircon on). Red wine is better at room temp!

Better taste, especially with a selection of cheeses and grapes. It feels almost civilised.

Once or twice a week, I submit to a cold draft beer on a hot day.

Not to worry. It was only cheap spirits anyway. Thai rum, Indonesian brandy, and fake vodka! At least with regular soda as mixer, there is more sugar than aftertaste.

Wine gives others the false impression of me being civilised.

Nice bits of rock there, Mendo.

    Yer looking well.

My mother collected sand from different spots around the world, placed in Kodak film canisters, then in glass bottles in her home. I remember bringing her back film canisters of red sand from Petra, sand from Bondi beach, Phuket, she probably has some from Yellowstone, I'm not sure where else, so will actually send her a message now asking her and seeing if she still has them displayed as she'd moved to a few different homes as she's gotten elderly.

A 3 liter tower of Singha with the Muay Thai gym lads last night, flowed well. Brewing up a big pot of lemongrass and ginger tea now, got two 3 liter dispensers that should fit snuggly into the fridge for keeping yummy chilled herbal teas in.

^ Fold the bag over, stick on a clothes peg, stick in the fridge for the night. One less piece of plastic crap cluttering the house.

Oh, I remember... you may have to Google 'clothes peg'!

Was in a pub near the universities last night and got a Moretti for 5 pounds 50.

Then stopped off at one of the old boozers in town - still fighting the good fight against trendy bars - and got karaoke and a pint of Moretti for 5 pounds 55!

First time I've seen that stuff for anything less than 6 quid and I was half cut for 40 quid!

The key to a cheap night out in England is to not eat and avoid taxis. Oh, and drink with students.

Ya no thanks. Chips/crisps have no place in a fucking refrigerator. What else do you put in the fridge? Your dirty underwear?

^ Due to the excessive heat in our house I do keep a lot of stuff in the fridge that I never did in the west... selected unopened tins/jars are kept in the back of one fridge because before now I've opened a jar of something and found that the contents had cooked over the months/years. Ants also have a habit of getting into plastic packets of even hermetically sealed dried food, even when kept in ppos.

No underwear, but I've noticed that the wife keeps big boxes of teabags in the fridge, once opened. This has always seemed a bit strange to me.

Explains why you have to put things in the fridge that shouldn't be there. But I guess if you can tolerate the poor taste to save a few baht...all good.
