A tidy replica of the redoubtable RNZAF P40 complete with Allison V12 on display.
One of these has recently been restored at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand near Christchurch.
And a very clean example of the UF registered P-39 Airacobra in RAF service with 601 squadron
An unusual early tricycle gear aircraft. The design accommodates a monster 37mm M4 cannon in the nose firing through the propeller hub.
To accommodate the huge cannon the engine had to be mounted low behind the pilot with a the driveshaft running under the cockpit and connecting via drive wheels.
Started some IPAs in the afternoon
Then moved onto a couple of refreshing Blanc to finish the evening.
^Haven't tried the IPA yet - looks very tasty
Kylo Ren's personal transport in 1/72 scale revealing that a real Tie Silencer is about the same length as an F-22
This is the Bandai kit which comes with a lighting and sound effects add-on option that can be installed during construction
There is a tiny button you can press and the twin ion engines light up and it plays one of a sequence of Star Wars space battle sound FX - almost enough to make you turn to the darkside!
New bottle tonight but one that I have enjoyed before. Very nice Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey.
( Easy now Tax....Don't get all spun up around the axle about it)
Tried a couple of these Korean beers tonight. Seemed ok

Had a few IPA's earlier by the pool and switched to Margaritas while I BBQ'd
No military airplane toys or Nazi dolls.....Just a good Anejo, Cointreau, fresh limes from the garden to make up a nice refreshing drink and off to the BBQ.
I had a couple of G&Ts with a mate who reckons there’s no carbs in Gin and therefore it’s basically a diet drink.
And switched to IPAs while I Q’d. No Barbie here. Just a Q or a Braii
This pic was already posted on the dinner thread, and I might just plonk it onto the BBQing mega thread as well, just for good measure!
I have heeded Zelensky's plea to the Australian parliament to be furnished with as many Australian BushMaster troop carriers as he can lay his hands on

Ingrid get off the floor girl...
finished the Beer Lao IPAs so I'm finishing my first (and probably last) San Miguel Cerveza Blanca Wheat Beer.
Cheap but actually its not that bad...the more I drink the better it gets (...should be a song title, about life)
^Have not had a good wheat beer in a many a long year. that gives me inspiration.
The beautiful Westland Lysander, faithful behind-enemy-lines fly-by-night ally of the French Resistance, always reminds me of a dragonfly with its insectoidal wing silhouette
It's good to be back... and my first Leo for around 7 weeks.
I was initially a bit pissed off about flying back with Turkish Airlines due to the extra connection at Istanbul... but the food was half edible and I was offered metal cutlery to eat it with. This made a nice change from the slop KLM serve up with their cheap plastic eating implements.
