A tidy replica of the redoubtable RNZAF P40 complete with Allison V12 on display.

One of these has recently been restored at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand near Christchurch.

And a very clean example of the UF registered P-39 Airacobra in RAF service with 601 squadron

An unusual early tricycle gear aircraft. The design accommodates a monster 37mm M4 cannon in the nose firing through the propeller hub.

To accommodate the huge cannon the engine had to be mounted low behind the pilot with a the driveshaft running under the cockpit and connecting via drive wheels.

    A good one for sure.

Had a sniff of Nikka grain coffee, and frankly it was not better than my current favorite of Woodinville Rye.

You had some coffee and it wasn't as good as whisky?

Had a few IPA's earlier by the pool and switched to Margaritas while I BBQ'd

No military airplane toys or Nazi dolls..... Just a good Anejo, Cointreau, fresh limes from the garden to make up a nice refreshing drink and off to the BBQ.

I had a couple of G&Ts with a mate who reckons there’s no carbs in Gin and therefore it’s basically a diet drink.

And switched to IPAs while I Q’d. No Barbie here. Just a Q or a Braii

This pic was already posted on the dinner thread, and I might just plonk it onto the BBQing mega thread as well, just for good measure!

It's good to be back... and my first Leo for around 7 weeks.

I was initially a bit pissed off about flying back with Turkish Airlines due to the extra connection at Istanbul... but the food was half edible and I was offered metal cutlery to eat it with. This made a nice change from the slop KLM serve up with their cheap plastic eating implements.
