60k is nothing if you want a peaceful, comfortable life in those surroundings.
Why don't you read the fucking thread before you add your cretinous comments.Originally Posted by Rural Surin

Here are some rental prices in the area- quite a bit of variation:
ISB International School of Bangkok Area - Bangkok Homes
Loads of Chevron people there, make sure you have your beige Chinos ready....
I saw a lot of diplomatic plates today. Maybe a lot of embassy staff housed there?
They are a little bit picky with the application process. I needed a sworn statement that I was not a member of Teakdoor.![]()
CD?
Wouldn't want to live too near them
Have been browsing for a while - it is a nice area, upscale and for once the residents care about what is happening on the other side of their gates.
My GF and I have discussed 2 places recently. Although we do not need a weekend getaway as neither of us work(man I wish she would get a job HaHa) we thought about 3 months in each place.
I am thinking Pran Buri and Trinity Lake, California on a house boat... seriously.
Flying out soon to check one out. Might buy and rent it out while we are back here or just rent for the 3 months while there. How is that for rural living....
The Nichada place looked nice from the pictures. Seems a bit "Stepford Wifey" to me but OK.
But you know I have to ask, for that type of money why not consider various getaways to various islands or resorts up north and chill....I mean really Chill. For 60K baht a month you could have a chauffeured van take you each weekend with no issues, no traffic hassles etc and have money left over.
Point of reference, In the US I had 2 homes. One in the heart of Silicon Valley (Where I worked) and a nice throw down place up by Yosemite Valley. Problem was after 6 or so months I was tired of the same place to retreat and the drive to get there. But that was me.
If you can get into a place without a 1 year rental agreement then best IMHO. Just some thoughts. I think you will be surprised how quickly the newness of the "getaway" location will wear off and then you are stuck with a fat bill and soon you may find you do not even want to go.
It seems quite the deal if you want orderly surroundings. You can have good neighbours, bad neighbours, or virtually no neighbours- I opted for the latter. If I lived in Nichada I'd probably end up hating Mexican food, Thanksgiving day and schoolteachers.
Too be honest, I just want peace and quiet. I want to be able to walk my dogs without carrying a big stick to fight off packs of soi dogs that want to attack my them. I also want to be close to a Villa Mart for gorceries, be near some restaurants with Western cuisine to satisfy my palette once in awhile, close to a theater with movies in English and a half hours drive to Suk or Silom.

Interesting medium but personally I prefer eating food than painting it.
you can probably get a suk quite a lot closer, but Silom would be a lot longer, except at 2amOriginally Posted by chitown
Many of the houses in Nichada are getting fairly old, yet they are still overpriced. There are lots of nice Moo Baans in the area where you will get a nicer house for 20,000 cheaper at least. They don't feel quite as much like suburban USA but that is a plus in my books. There are families in Nichada which literally never leave it, no joke....it's weird.
