My GF and I have discussed 2 places recently. Although we do not need a weekend getaway as neither of us work(man I wish she would get a job HaHa) we thought about 3 months in each place.

I am thinking Pran Buri and Trinity Lake, California on a house boat... seriously.

Flying out soon to check one out. Might buy and rent it out while we are back here or just rent for the 3 months while there. How is that for rural living....

The Nichada place looked nice from the pictures. Seems a bit "Stepford Wifey" to me but OK.

But you know I have to ask, for that type of money why not consider various getaways to various islands or resorts up north and chill....I mean really Chill. For 60K baht a month you could have a chauffeured van take you each weekend with no issues, no traffic hassles etc and have money left over.

Point of reference, In the US I had 2 homes. One in the heart of Silicon Valley (Where I worked) and a nice throw down place up by Yosemite Valley. Problem was after 6 or so months I was tired of the same place to retreat and the drive to get there. But that was me.

If you can get into a place without a 1 year rental agreement then best IMHO. Just some thoughts. I think you will be surprised how quickly the newness of the "getaway" location will wear off and then you are stuck with a fat bill and soon you may find you do not even want to go.
