I think I have found the perfect village - Nichada!

I have really become disillusioned with Bangkok city life - loud Thai music, no rules, no enforcement whatsoever. I also want to spend some time outside the city and enjoy rural Thailand as well. So, we have decided to rent 2 places - 1 in Bangkok and 1 outside the city for weekends, holidays and extended get aways.

I have looked at 100's and 100's of moobans in and around Bangkok and finally found what I think is the perfect one. The absolute best one I have found is Nichada Village.

My survey of the area has found not one soi dog and as a matter of fact every dog that I did see was being walked on a leash! There are rules that are enforced about dogs taking a dump on the street even. No push carts, no loud music, no speeding vehicles, no driving the wrong way etc. The roads have an area on the side that is sectioned off for jogging and many people get

The village has a 1st class Clark Hatch gym, pool, country club, and even a Villa Mart and a nice shopping plaza. There is also a Bumrungrad clinic there. If you are member of the gym here you can use any branch - Clark Hatch Fitness Center :: Thailand ::

For school, they have the International School of Bangkok (ISB) right here.

4 to 5 bedroom single family homes rent starting at 60,000 baht and condos start at 30k.

Does anyone or has anyone ever lived here and can you give some feedback on the place? Nichada

Hmmmm, so part of my due diligence is asking TD for feedback! To be honest, this site has given the best insight on living in Thailand out of anything I have found on the internet. I have yet to see a question asked, where at least one member and more often, multiple members give excellent advice! Even the British have good tips once and awhile!!!

It really is a little piece of America in Thailand. They even have bicycle road rules enforced. Essentially a village built for the school to house their teachers.

If you want to get into and out of the city often you may find it a little too far out.

I go there all the time. Its little America, has a Villa market as well. Bike lanes and a planned community. 21 years ago the wife and I should have bought there. But we are happy where we are and its more convenient for the wife to commute to Sathorn daily without having to deal with the traffic on Changwattana.
The only draw back is that it is near Muang Thong Thani and all the exhibitions they put on. On the weekends the traffic can be terrible. But for a quick shop Central Changwattana with a very nice Tops market is right there. They even have golf cart parking for Nichada residents.

Maybe. My wife has to apply for a settlement visa prior to move in.

I think you have answered your own questions mate.

Whilst popular opinion is always nice you will still find things you are not completely happy with but the good points will override the negative one's.

The 60k a month, whilst I believe is a fair market price you will receive negative replies regarding the amount from some members here and if I were you I would get a nice apartment as it is your weekend getaway destination.

Thanks, LT!. The out of BKK place will be the get away location. Most of our time will be spent here in Bangkok.

Why would you want to getaway to a place like that? I can understand some people like living there but it is hardly a beautiful relaxing place

I would plump for a beach hut!

Again...the get away place will be outside Bangkok in a rural setting. Not in Nichada.

I also want to spend some time outside the city and enjoy rural Thailand as well.

It looks like a nice place to live but it is in no way rural, not even outside of the village. You are just going from a crowed, unruly part of a large city to a control or restricted part of a smaller city.

I went from a city boy - New Orleans, La to a country boy when I retired to enjoy rural living. I moved to High Ridge, Mo. Compare.

Dr. Andy, Sabang and a few others really live in the country. Come visit here and I will even let you work a day or two in the garden - then you will get the real rual feeling. LOL

    Good luck man.

Seems like a 'planned community'- probably one of the few places in Thailand where an HOA exists and is enforced.

this is probably the main issue - 3 ways ( to drive ) out of nichida but the main one on soi 24 is onto chaeng wattana road and sometimes getting down to the expressway can be a 30-40 minute stop start effort.

also , what do your 30k apartments have a view of ? the freeway ? I would expect any that have a view of the lake to be a bit more expensive than that.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

60k per month, fuk me you facist pigs... It does sound nice though, and probably worth the money if it gives you the peace of mind and lifestyle you are looking for. You know how these places end up if not managed; my place is a perfect example - Thai management (if any), probably started out very similar to the place you're talking about, but is now a rundown shitehole that has been sculpted by fly-tippers and selfish owners, non-stop dog barking and dog shite outside my house... All the other problems; that's probably why I pay 8k per month for a 4 bed place... Rama 2 (Bang Mod btw).

You gets what youse pays for.

Good luck, mate; hope it works out for you. Tell us about your country place too (Rama 2 has the advantage of being only 1:30 to Cha-am, so I kinda get the best of both worlds. ).
    Cycling should be banned!!!

Nichada Thani? Yes good pick. Try to get one of the lakeside houses.

They look after the place. Immediately outside the gates, the usual ChangWattana crud proliferates.

I believe than no Thais, Jews or dogs are allowed in.

don't panic, your original post was not that clear, obviously

so you are giving up the place you stay in at the moment, and maybe go to escape/live in Nichada

then you want to find another place so you can escape from Nichada and do a bit of rural stuff

    all clear now
    I have reported your post
