Well, the pyjama game is all very well, but it'll be great to get back to the real thing today.

Australia vs India starts in Perth at 09:20 Thai time.

It's the first five test series since the nineties for the Border Gavaskar trophy, and India are looking to win their fifth series against Australia in a row.

Weather is cooler than usual for the time of year in Perth, with a breeze and some cloud.

    On TNT Sport.

    Agreed to that.

    India drops bombshell selection news

    Tyson Otto

India has rolled the dice with a huge selection surprise with the news breaking in the hours leading up to the toss of the coin in Perth.

Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are set top be left out of the Indian side for the first Test in a bombshell selection call.

The Indian Express first reported Nitish Kumar Reddy and fast bowler Harshit Rana have been called up , while Washington Sundar has been preferred as the spinner.

    Ravi Ashwin and Pat Cummins.

Even on the bouncy Perth deck it is a massive gamble.

Pat Cummins drops secret hours before First Test

Pat Cummins has revealed Australia has been given another weapon to fire at India with all-rounder Mitch Marsh fit to bowl.

The often-injured West-Australian was seen doing plenty of batting practice in the lead up to the Test, but doubt has clouded his ability to bowl.

Mitchell Marsh will get plenty support in his home state. Photo by Gareth Copley/Getty Images.

“He’ll definitely bowl this Test – well, he’s definitely available to bowl,” Cummins said.

“He’s an all-rounder. With the way us four bowlers (Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon) are set out, we never really budget an all-rounder bowling heaps.

Virat done by the bounce and caught.

They've struggled with the extra bounce all morning so far.

    Hazlewood the pick.

    32 / 3

Think there might be some fireworks from Bumrah, and McSweeney won't be around for long.

Aussies shat the bed. Cricket’s the winner. Did we manage to avoid the follow on?

India’s openers are comfortable. 0-114 with a 160 lead already.

India with a lead of 218 without loss at the close.

Well, I didn't see that coming.

Cricket Australia's moneymen must be relieved at least.

McSweeney out for a duck in the first over doesn’t help.

They finished on 12/3, so 510 needed to win.

Cummins and Marnus Labia out caught.

Yep, pretty much a disaster for Aussie cricket.

I suppose it’s set up for a double century from Smith tomorrow… or India will win easily.

    Dunno about ‘disaster’.

    It’s a five test series.

Amazing how that strip changed so fast.
