^ MJ and Barbie have something in common besides their bowling averages in test cricket. They have both improved their bowling in recent times. Biggest difference though, is about 25kmph.

In an era where the debate over the historical context of Jardine's Ashes-winning tactic has resulted in a far wider acceptance and appreciation of ''fast leg theory'' as cricket genius rather than precipitating a war of independence, it seems anathema that England should find fault with the practice, or at least the spirit.

^ Nothing wrong with the way the convicts have been bowling; upto the batsmen to deal with it.
He's bowling at 110-115mph now, impressive...Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles

Get with it girl!
Is posting from the Sunday Morning Herold allowed outside of the Kiddies and Cartoons section?
That's the esteemed Geoff Lawson writing there.
Funny story, I was at the cricket in Darwin, in line for the bar and listening to the radio commentary. Lawson was going on and on about Big Merv being in the same hotel and always eating out the buffet. Just so happens Big Merv was in front of me so I tapped him on the shoulder, pointed to the earpeice and said Hey Merv, whats up with Lawson on the radio? He said without asking what was being said, You ring the bloody ABC and ask Geoff fucking Lawson how many test wickets he has...
Then he signed my flag![]()
^ nice stroy. Did Merv give you a kiss too; that's one YMCA facial hair setup...

Well, I was a young man in those days, 'Arry - anything was possible...
Stayed in Darwin for a few months; even got to like Aussie Rules!
Tim Bresnan added to Ashes squad.
BBC Sport - Ashes 2013-14: Bowler Tim Bresnan added to England squad
^ a good move.
Very unimpressed with Tremlett; Bresnan would be a better option - straight into the team...
Just 2 days to go until Adelaide.
Looks like Australia is sticking with the same team - except bailey may be dropped for Faulkner.
I'm happy either way. Faulkner will give us an extra bowler and is no mug with the bat , and conditions should see Bailey make some runs.
Still think a lot depends on the toss, which could be a deciding factor.
Have a feeling this one will be closer - or maybe a draw.
All recent shield games have been massive run fests there.
^ Adelaide has always been an unpredictable pitch. Even more so now with the new drop in pitches , which have yet to be used for international matches. The few state game played there have been very high scoring draws mostly. But who knows if this new drop in pitch is made of different clay and will have grAss left on it.
But if you insist .....
If Australia win the toss, we will win by 70-100 runs.
If England win the toss - drawn match.
Happy now![]()
Yes, but like Johnson he hasn't a clue where he's pitching the ball
The announcer David Nixon sounds like he would put on a good turn at Bernard Manning's nightclub![]()

Let's see how he goes on a less than venomous Adelaide pitch.
There was a smidgen of humour in there but the reality is that a decent pace bowler will continually pitch the ball outside or on the line of the off stump.
There was an abnormal number of dismissals going down leg side in the 1st Test which says much about the control the bowler had over his delivery and of course the poor batting which caused those wickets to fall.
For that reason alone Finn and Johnson imo will never be considered world class bowlers. They will get lucky on occasions and i am not doubting their committment to the game but the real classy bowlers are a permanent fixture in test teams. Johnson is probably 3/4 choice and Finn hopefully will go back to bowling school before he gets another opportunity.
I am looking forward to watching the Adelaide test but not particularly staying up all night in the UK to see it through.
