It was on in the pub I was in Willy.
Seeing as you were also there you can confirm I took no interest in watching, nor can I tell you who won.....

Finn is continuing his nightmare in the side with 1-123 off 23 overs. A pie chucker at best who must be married to a selector''s daughter to be even considered for the tour. He was given an early opportunity at Perth to prove his worth. Yep, he confirmed that he's worthless.
The Cook/Root opening partnership was pretty much a failure during the last set of tests so good to see Carberry scoring 78. He's class and should be given an opportunity in Brisbane.
Prior's poor batting form is a worry but he did well in the last Oz tests if i recall. He's a monsterously tough character and his sledging is worth a couple of australian wickets so not likely to be replaced anytime soon.
It won't be easy this time around. Australia deserved to win 2 test matches in England in recent months although i feel they just don't have enough class players to win a series atm.
Just in case any of are ocker friends missed Betty's Thread here it is

So the answer is no test matches.Originally Posted by Bobcock

Yes, one win by 5 and a quarter runs, another Oz victory denied by weather, 3-0 was extremely flattering.Originally Posted by Mr Lick

England, even money, Oz, 2/1 with the bookies...can't see it myself..
Forget draws; Oz to win series 3-2, 10/1.....4-1, 28/1
Value there at 4-1..I'll stick a cockle on it. England are nothing special...
p.s don't give a toss if 12 examples of Aussies cheating are dug up...Broad should have walked...12 Wongs don't make a White, unless a shitload of related Chinks called Wong meet a bloke called White, inter marry and spawn
why was my thread merged?? obviously some stupid seppo mod, who has no clue the ashes is the biggest event on the cricket calender. so only one soccer thread?? only one grid iron thread???

A cricket tour in Australia would be a most delightful period in one's life if one was deaf.

Despite the fact that Johnson has been pretty poor in test cricket in recent times, I wouldn't be so quick to ridicule a guy with over 200 test wickets.......
...... lets be a bit cautious here....
^ yes, he can be very good on a good day. Very bad on a bad day, rather hoping he has very bad days...
One-eyed Warne talking his normal style of utter bolloks:
Cook can be negative, boring, not very imaginative... He lets the game drift. He waits for the game to come to him. I don't think he can captain the side like that.
Michael Clarke, to me, is the best captain in the world at the moment.
Michael's very well respected. The best captains, like Mark Taylor & Allan Border...

Cycling should be banned!!!
It's the usual negative Australian media when any of our sporting teams goes down there.
With the Lions they launch a campaign each time saying how dirty they are, with the cricketers it's how boring they are......
It's what Australians do....... it's all part of the fun and the banter, if we can't take it we shouldn't go.......
Botham made his recent 5-0 prediction and said as much..... it's what they do and it's what I'll do....
Enjoy the ride, not long to go, if we lose I expect WDR to attempt to kick me all over the board...... he'll fail but I will enjoy him trying.

At the same average as Anderson and Broad.
And yes Dave. He is quick. Currently the quickest in the world. Steyn can bowl as quick but not as consistently quick.
Problem is, he is not strong enough mentally. He cost us a few test matches on his off days, and that's why he was dropped.
He has a very good test record at Perth though. We may have to play him in Brisbane with pattinson and starc injured though - but I hope the other guys are fit and we don't have to. Only in Perth.
Watson is playing down his hamstring injury. Saying it is just a niggle and doesn't feel serious. Hope he is right. I like him as our no.3
Barbie: 30.4
Anderson : 30.2
Johnson: 30.8
Pretty much the same averages in tests

Of course our attack is shite and we have to rely on such second rate talent.
Australia on the other hand have an embarrassment of great bowling talent and can afford to be rid of a guy at the slightest glance towards his mummy for emotional support.
Another reason why we will get pummelled again.
Pretty sure he will be rested to make sure he is fit for the remainder of the series. That leaves us without a no.3 again. Who do we have to fill the spot? Hughes and Kwajaja have not impressed. Perhaps Doolan who has been doing well in domestic long form matches. 23 year old Faulkner is proving to be a really good allround prospect , but he is not a no.3.
Harris is my biggest worry. If he breaks down after injury comeback our chances of getting our urn back are way less. No top order pommy batsmen averaged more than 28 against him in England recently, and he is without doubt the leader of our bowling attack.
So if watson and Harris are out - along with pattinson and starc, we cannot field our best 11.
If that is the case, the Brisbane team may look something like this:
Rogers
Warner
Hughes/Kwajaja / Doolan
Bailey
Clarke
Smith
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Siddle
Bird/ Doug the rug?
Lyon
I have moved Clarke back down to 5 as that is where he averages best. His stats at 4 suggest he doesn't like facing the newer ball.
Not our best 11, but risking watson and Harris in the first one is something I don't think the selectors will do ..
