surprise, surprise, .....rain has stopped play in another english cricket game. have they ever pondered an enclosed stadium there? i know the traditionalists would be against it, but surely it's worth a thought?

We need it.... Helps get the games into the fourth day which helps the sponsors......
I hope he gets a chance today. I think we'll bat most of the day if we can anyway.Ooo I see they're going to give Bopara another chance to stuff up.
Yesterday looked an absolute peach if a day. A perfect late Summer - or dare I say it - an early Autumn day with not a cloud in sight, shirt sleeves all round, yet everything tinged with the slight melancholy of the final Test of the season.surprise, surprise, .....rain has stopped play in another english cricket game
I'm still scratching my head as to how India reached #1.
Me too.I'm still scratching my head as to how India reached #1.
I think they had a lot of home tests on their own pitches along with the richest Governing Body and the largest domestic audience.
I'll ponder it over during my afternoon in the pub while the missus goes shopping and let you know.
Plus it was good PR for the IPL cash cow...
They cannot have more home games that count than anyone else. That's not how the system works.
They were number one based on the fact their results were better than everyone else's. Which they were.
"STAT ALERT: England have now scored as many 200s in the last 15 months as they scored in the entire 1980s and 1990s combined
"This is the second time England have scored more than 500 in three successive innings - the first time was against Sri Lanka in 2002
"I've noticed a delightful statistical quirk resulting from the deplorable decision to make James Anderson night-watchman: now Swann is batting 11, England's no.11 has a higher first-class score (183) than England's no.1 in the batting order, Strauss with 177."
I must admit to not listening to this test. It's too easy and therefore a bit boring. Let's hope the Sri Lankans can play a bit as India are hopeless.
Australia cleaned them up with over 100 balls to spare to win the series.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Wonder how they'll do in the test matches ?
You, me and everyone else knows that Australian cricket won't be down for long mate so enjoy your moment in the sun whilst it lasts.Originally Posted by daveboy
dunno mate not alot of upcoming talent is there.
Not with the Hussey brothers and Ponting still adding to their records with three ducks between them today.Originally Posted by daveboy
I think they've hit the panic button now mate wholesale changes coming maybe they could take a leaf out of the ECB's book
Lets get a few wins under our belt first (like this quite easy series win against the Lankans on their home turf) and there has been some reports of some good youngsters coming through mate.
Anyway when does the next ashes series start?

2013 back to back series for the first time.
India 68/3
Looking like another big win looming for England!
The pitches in SL are deadly flat but the new ball can swing in Colombo and the older ball can reverse if there's cloud cover.
In between that though runs will flow and bowlers will toil in the heat which is why we really should be thinking of 5 bowlers.
This had too happen.
Selectors Andrew Hilditch and Greg Chappell, plus coach Tim Nielsen lose jobs as part of Argus review
Wholesale changes about time the aussies have underperformed for too long.
clarke is batting like a poove, which is how he always bats in the short versions of the game. i really wish little pup would just stick to test cricket..
Australia 167/5 (38.1 ov)
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field

A big shout to Notts today as well! Come on lads!
Hammer Durham and help the mighty Lancs to the title!
A mini collapse and an innings win is back on the cards with just Dhoni, RP, Gambhir and Sreesanth and Sharma to go...but I reckon we'll have to knock a few off...as long as it ain't too many.
