Last night my lucky daughter requested and was served steak and kidney pie.

    A proper, homemade pie.

Deserving of the Mont Clair rose accompaniment.

It doesn't get much better than that!

She's camping tonight... and we currently have a storm!

But I'm back on it for Saturday night...

Yep, reckon so! Another family favourite... although I'm not having a lot of luck fishing lately so will have to make do with Korat Chef North Atlantic haddock.

    And peas.

Green owed for the steak and kidney pie.

I just bought some ox kidney and planning to bake one also (but my family wont help me eat it, as none of them like kidney and they don't much like pastry either).

Kidney can be an acquired taste but I've never heard of anyone not liking pastry before.

One of my sisters doesn't like kidney so I always made sure to sit next to her on steak and kidney days.

She used to pass all of her kidney to me... I love the stuff!

I love Mendy so do not get me wrong, but all his dinners look the same. I would be close to going postal if I had to eat that every night. I am sure the daughter is looking forward to boarding school.

Beetroot goes with Cottage pie and is a power food apparently.

Pickled it's good for the gut and the Beetroot itself file, including potential reductions in blood pressure, improved athletic performance, and enhanced digestive health. Beetroot is known for its high nitrate content, which the body converts to nitric oxide, helping to relax blood vessels and potentially lower blood pressure. The vegetable also contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, like betalains, which may help protect against certain cancers and reduce inflammation.

Miss Sri lanka invited me to a relaxed evening soiree tonight after 2 1/2 months of coquettish reclusion, and asked me to serenade her on this antique tin flute, since I can knock out a merry jig on the tin whistle.

I could not get a peep out of this thing though.

The culinary boat was not pushed out quite as far as last time, with tonight's main course comprising of a box of pringles.

And for dessert a tin of condensed milk.

This is my kind of sofa scran and my heart was pounding, partly out of ardour for Miss Sri Lanka but also from my blood sugar level going off the chart.

This self portrait she did freaks me out. Looks like her nipples are staring at me.

    Tidy your bedroom girl.

    What a mess!

^I do worry for her health.

She is in the middle of a 5 day fast where she only eats 1 cup of yoghurt each day and drinks 2 litres of electrolyte.

I felt particularly guilty scoffing a whole tube of pringles and half a tin of condensed milk in front of her.

Perhaps the fasting means she hasn't the energy to tidy up, she's invited you over as a cry for help. Get those marigolds on Loops

I didn't really know where to put this... but it's food and it's pink, so kind of on topic.

There was a guy on the UK radio today raving about these raspberry and cream digestives. They're new to me but if they're as good as I suspect, I am going to try and get hold of some.

Please could anyone in the UK report back, or if required go out and get a pack and give them a try?
