    ^ It looks very yellow?

Last night I had pla siwai red curry, courtesy of the gardener.

This fish passed away in the pond sometime during Wednesday night and I just admit I was a little bit nervous eating it (but I'm OK the next day).

The daughter played it safe with pork teriyaki.

    It was certainly well presented.

The firm flesh seemed nice enough but all I could really taste was chilli and coconut.

Finished off with a dessert of durian.

You don't get a more Thai meal than this!

Wash it down with a couple of gallons of ya dong or whatever the fuck they are calling it would be a perfect finale to obtain complete Issander status? Not sure if that's even a word or how issan folk refer to each other? But crack on anyway. Excellent behaviour

Nope. You have to be very carefully with loads of booze and durian when its very hot. They don't mix well. You overheat like a fuker. It can be dangerous.

^ I've often heard that you shouldn't mix durian with strong liquor, but always thought it was an old Thai wive's tale.

It's not a wives tale imo. I hung one on in CM years ago, 96 I think. I'd been on a three dayer with local mates and lunchtime we got 3 durian to eat and share with the bar staff early doors. I ate two pieces and 30 mins later it was like someone had switched on my central heating. Sweat was literally running from my head to toes. I had to go and sit in the bar owners shower for ages with me Mrs bringing me iced water. I've never chanced it again. Apparently in Chan they reckon mangosteen with durian counteracts this issue.

Not just in Chan. Nakhon Ratchasima too. Probably all over Thailand. Thai wisdom, I reckon.

Pan fried barramundi served on a bed of mash with ratatouille and peas!

The ratatouille transformed this meal and gave it a Continental flavour.

    Nice!
