And you're basing your assessment of the diet of 60 million people on what Chitty, armstrong and Reg post here.

You really don't rate facts highly, do you.

I love a pie as much as the next whippet lover, but on top of a plate of chili con carne?

Force of habit would see me having to cover that in gravy and mushy peas.

Might not be the most natural combination in the world, but there's certainly nada ultra processed about it.

The pie is obviously the worst offender, but not ultra processed.

Canned chili and a frozen pie are not processed? Clearly, you live in an alternate universe.

How do you know it's canned chili, and that Reg didn't have his oven gloves on all day making the pie?

You know what a good little cook Mrs Dillinger has turned into recently.

A rich pastry filled with succulent pieces of recently slaughtered cow, and potatoes harvested just yesterday from the back of his garden.

Baked in his oven and then served on a delightful, nutritious bed of meat, beans and rice.

Certainly beats that farmed salmon you love so much.

It's not easy to tell if you are being disingenuous or just stupid, bsnub.

He even put it in italics for you.

    I doubt that very much.

I must admit that I'm not really sure what exactly constitutes 'processed food' or 'ultra-processed food'. I know that my meals wouldn't suit some Americans on here but I reckon we eat pretty healthily at Chez Mendip.

The past week, after an absolutely delicious salmon quiche on Sunday night (homemade pastry, eggs from garden, cheese, milk etc - does cheese count as processed food?), has gone like this...

Monday, pork chops with loads of veg. The peas were frozen, but I read that frozen veg can be better than fresh, and certainly not worse. OK, so the Apple Sauce is processed? But nothing else.

Tuesday... the daughter has guitar lessons at Central Plaza so we had food court dinners when I picked her up. A larb moo for me. Fresh and wholesome I'm sure.

Wednesday... I'm big into cabbage at the moment so it was sausages with baked spud and assorted veg, but mainly cabbage... with gravy. Do 'homemade' sausages count as processed? They are basically minced pork with herbs added, I think? I wouldn't think they are processed food?

Thursday morning the wife asked me if I fancied a prawn curry for dinner. And no, that wasn't some euphemism for a 20 minute fumble while the daughter's doing her homework, I knew full well it meant that the wife'd simply tell the gardener to cook a prawn curry while she caught up on some essential telly viewing. I'm indifferent to this dish, but I know that the daughter loves it so agreed. To be honest, if I was offered fried dog turds with basil one night a week I'd readily agree if it gave me a night off this bastard cooking.

Not my cup of tea, but not processed food, I wouldn't have thought?

Friday, and in the big smoke. An early dinner at lunch time. Nothing much processed there, I reckon? Is a tinned pineapple ring processed? I have no idea.

The second Friday dinner was genuine Italian pizza, cooked by Italians and taken away from an Italian restaurant. These rectangular pizzas are new to me but are a much easier shape to walk with on busy pavements (sidewalks). Mine had this ground chorizo sausage - processed? I don't know, but it was well tasty.

Another early lunchtime dinner today, Saturday. Fish an' chips for me, Cottage Pie for the daughter. I had the fish purely because I wanted mushy peas (I can't catch any fish at home and haven't had mushy peas in weeks), but they only do 'garden' peas at the Robin Hood. I've never been pissed off about a portion of peas before!

Nothing processed I reckon, but I'm sure that mushy peas would have counted as processed, or even ultra-processed?

Or are they good for you?

The lunchtime deal... so we had to have a pudding.

Processed or not, who cares? You've gotta live a little.

And then tonight... we missed room service so popped up to the 7-Eleven. Crab fried rice for the daughter, pad krapow gai for me.

A bit of a come down, but is it so bad? They're not great but I don't reckon these 7-Eleven meals are too unhealthy to be honest, on occasion in an emergency. I'm sure that there's much worse out there, but I'm very open to correction.

I made a batch of minestrone soup during the week. Keeps out the cold...

I guess the use of canned beans and tomato paste means the addition of processed food, but it's minimal.

I like to add savoy cabbage at the end, but none in the shops, so had to do without.

Nice, I'm a bean fan and try to get them into stews and curries, and canned is fine, no passing about soaking etc.

I can't remember the last time I had a decent lamb roast, Makro in Korat have stopped stocking it. Very nice!

In fact it would have been back in July at my mum's.

I have also had a few nice pea dishes this week however, may post a couple up later, after fishing.

That lamb looked fantastic . but the creme fraiche spuds got me googling. Love a good fromage blanc personally. Gonna give that a try for sure.

^ It was the 'pancetta' peas that arose my interest. Never heard of them before but they look good. I'll have to check them out, we have some bacon in the fridge at the moment.

^ It looks fukking great... I just had Gala Pie with cheesy beans and a slice of bread and butter.

Where did you get that granite top from? It's even better than your food.

Nice. Will you be farting the National Anthem and dressing human Annna up in just under 3 hours then?
I did contemplate earlier about how well beans do go with mashed potato and whether to lose the gravy but didn't wanna ruin Snobby, Stumpy and Willy's Sabbath.
