Sliced smoked sausage in a blackberry jam/horseradish sauce on a bed of jasmine rice.

Dessert, homemade apple pie. No vanilla ice cream on hand unfortunately.

The sausage horseradish jam thing was something I saw on a PBS cooking show I wanted to try. Was very good.

^ I'm getting my new cast iron skillet out this weekend... hoping for something similar!

In the meantime... steak and kidney pie night again tonight. And me daughter couldn't contain herself!

Same same a last week... tomato sauce for the littlun, gravy for me.

Despite my previous 'senior' moment, I still poured gravy all over my pie before eating... but I've learnt my lesson and no longer use the Bisto gravy granules.

It's the Bisto gravy powder out of the brown cardboard box every time for me now... make a paste with a teaspoon of flour, then stir into the pea water.

    Can't go wrong!

If that was us classy northerners that slice of ham would have been fucked right off the council estate plate and substituted with a sausage. Egg, sausage chips and beans, just like me mam used to make.

Sliced ham goes on a sandwich you brummie scally and has no place on a hot meal. ;-)

I wholeheartedly agree. The missus forgot to chuck the sausages into the airfryer with the chips and I couldnt be arsed waiting, so ham it was.
The sausages here aren't the best anyway, with chewy synthetic skins.

Had an American brekky feel to it, albeit with beans

Have you tried their Heinz beans over there, i read somewhere those Mercans beans have twice the sugar content of the ones they export to Britain.

Everything has got more sugar in it over there; the sweet stuff is ridiculously sweet.

No wonder there are so many fat rednecks wobbling down the street.

One thing that was new to me when I lived Stateside was the extensive range of breakfast cereals ... most of them sugar laden.

And the winner is, with a 56% sugar content and almost 70 years on the Supermarket shelves ...
