The Boys and I are about to plant some peas.

I have the fondest memories shelling them when I was a kid.
One for the pod, one for me, one for the pod, one for me

My Dad was a keen gardener ... taught me heaps.

Broad Beans ... haven't had them for years.

Maybe next year if the kids take to the peas.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

That depends on the type of canning. This type is shit..

    But home canned is awesome...

Nope the garden is done by October and we home can as much of what we can't eat as possible. Usually plenty of pickles, tomato sauce and marinara, peppers, salsa etc...

I used to spit it into my napkin when my mom wasn't looking then I would throw it away. Still hate it to this day.

I help but the recipes belong to my better half. We both tend the garden and when we have more then we can eat we will start to can whatever we have to keep it from spoiling. We grow a fairly large garden that produces more than two people can consume. So canning is a must and allows us to enjoy the produce of the garden until the next growing season.

I'd pickle a quart or so to snack on or use in bloody marys but put up the rest in brine. Throw in a pot with a knob of butter and some italian dressing and they're a meal to themselves.

AO, how many of those jars are for me?
