go to the bakery section Nige, fill one of those bags with cream cakes and eclairs, then head to the self service express cash out and press the croissants button.

It used to work at Tesco express

It's 3.30 am in Frinton. A bit bloody desperate if you need to go get the specials in the middle of the bloody night!

Ahh missed that. He would be chasing that elusive green pork again and the slimy chicken. Great way to lose weight.... food poisoning.

Lots of people rummage around in the discount food bin. I do. and i have found lots of stuff at half the normal price.

As Nige says, get it and put it in the freezer. If it's meat like for a stew, the next week you can get your veggies defrost the meat that cost almost nothing and you have a meal for a couple of days.

Nothing wrong in that. Here, we follow the guy in the supermarket who has the 50 percent off sticker gun every Saturday around five thirty. Why not!

Otherwise it's in the bin. There are people who rummage in the bins, not me. But they find food for a week. Good on them, i say.

I'm a bit OCD about sell buy dates.

No, you are not. Why do you think the food goes into the rummage bins or gets a 50% off sticker.

Nope I got one of those rather expensive Allinson wholemeal loaves for 18p

and I got 2 fresh chicken breasts stuffed with garlic for 58p they will do me 2 meals

and yes as PC says fresh is all good to go in the freezer for later on .

Just a note on that point , last night when I went in there for a rummage around there was a pack of 2 duck fillets in some kind of sauce , now I looked at the pack to see if it could be frozen and strangely enough it said " This product has been previously frozen BUT can quite safely be re/frozen but must be defrosted before cooking "

No not for me thanks even at the tempting price of 68p.

Anyway last nights weekly shop for the 2 of us came to the princely sum of £20.46p
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

The 50% stickers are for food that should be eaten that day. But if you buy it and stick it in the freezer there is no risk of food poisoning at all.

Yes, i am OCD about sell by dates, but not for stuff that i know i can put in the freezer.

Last month i bought half a kilo of fish goujons for about 2 quid and that was at half price. Obviously i am not gonna eat all that, I separated them into five bags for the freezer. That's five meals for me.

In fact i am defrosting some for tonight. Fried up with some tatties. Yumskie.

Watching Saturday Kitchen Live at the moment!!

Saturday's piggory has been postponed to Sunday this week - observe the Sabbath and keep it holy and what have you. In the meantime, these mackerel filets atop a bed of egg noodles, diced onion, carrot and celery will apparently make me a better person.

Pork chops, mashed spud with spring onion, beans and gravy tonight. Simple and tasty.

Got these from Foodland. Big bastards, 3 of them weighed 1.2kg combined and since cost has been coming up lately, the price was 333 Baht . The Shake and Bake is for chicken but works perfectly with pork too. Just throw the meat and seasoning into a ziplock bag, shake it around, and into the oven they go.

Not much to look at, but this is my idea of home cooking and I'm happy to eat a dinner like this any time. The meat were sensational, I normally get the 350gr pork chops from Villa but will be buying these from Foodland again.

^Can't speak for the others but I'm not married, though in a long term de-facto relationship which is the same thing to a degree. My missus cannot cook an egg despite being shown how at least half a dozen time over the years, so there's not much chance of letting her loose on things like imported rib-eyes or a roast...

But there's an upside, she loves cleaning and other household chores I can't be arsed doing, and paid to have done in my single days. This works out good for both of us, I really enjoy cooking and no matter how much of a mess gets made, she's in the kitchen humming Thai folk songs while cleaning the carnage and is very happy to do so. Perfect.
