Well, go on then. Ive been waiting for three days for you to spill the beans...

I'm currently staying above a Dorset pub with the daughter and I've landed on me feet. What I'd give for a pub in Korat with a menu like this.

The daughter is sick... well we both are to be honest but unfairly it was left to me to go downstairs and sort food out. She flat out refused.

The only plus was that I had to wait 20 minutes for the food to be cooked. It was just like home!

Despite my aching head, fever and dodgy stomach there was only one choice for me... the pan-fried lamb's liver with bacon... with peas. The daughter went chicken nuggets with chips... and peas! The huge portion of cheesy garlic bread was a mistake and it went back untouched. Neither of us had much of an appetite.

I think it highly likely that the next drink that glass holds will be a Leo by the side of my pond in Korat!

Lovely. I can't remember the last time I had lamb's liver. I'll have to see if there's a butcher round here who sells lamb's kidneys, another favourite of mine.

I'm impressed you found a traditional pub that has a pub dog on the floor.

A couple more pints of hang glider and a brandy night cap, you'll be fighting fit for tomorrows adventures.

^ That's my hope. I have a bottle of duty free Highland Park in the luggage... just waiting for the daughter to nod off.

It shouldn't be long as she's not very well at all.

Time for a trip to the optometrist. I glanced at the menu and read "Small Plates and Sharters" and thought, jeez, the Poms have a weird sense of humour. Second glance, no, just "Small Plates and Sharers."

Your food and drink looked fine.

I'm with the Snubster on this. Liver, kidneys, and anything else that isn't a clean slab of meat can fook right off.

    Possibly a generational thing.

Being raised in the 90's meant the inside guts and offal of some baby animal wasn't really seen as food.

Steak, yes, guts and offal, no.

^ You are missing out big time.

Tonight I was looking forward to trying the fish pie but just had no appetite.

I needed something, so had one of HNZ's 'Sharters'!

    Breaded whitebait.

Give us a fishy chorus Mendy!!

Big fish, little fish , give me a cardboard box!

The smell of liver and onions hmmm nothing quite like it aroma and taste wise, once in a lifetime for me.

Steak and Kidney pudding however, I'll eat fifty of those bad boy babies heads.
    Shalom

Food has no place in a proper traditional pub unless its pork scratchings and thats for poofs, however needs must nowadays.

An open fire with drying rabbit skins on the mantel piece.

A dog asleep under a table with a half drunk ash tray full of mild near its nose.

A fog of smoke from pipes, cigs and cigars in the air so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Domino and card games going on for money on every other table.

The local bike getting rooted around the back.

Some skullduggery going on in hushed quarters.

Not a phone or TV in sight, no music just the sound of laughter and piss taking that would make TD sound lame.

Everyone having fun and knowing everyone.

Welcome back to the good old days of the British pub.

    Impressive acceleration.

From nought to complete drivel in less than two hours.
