To take it to another level, add some dry cider to the stock, then after blending it smooth, crumble some blue cheese (Stilton recommended) into it.

Bogon Tip #391
Take butter out of the fridge 10 minutes before soup is done.
It's sourdough. It comes with those holes...and that butters been out of the fridge in a dish for months:)
Have you seen the price of heating here nowadays. It'd be cheaper to eat out than heat butter.
I've got heartburn just reading that. I'm aiming for Naafi not Officers Mess quality nosh:)
Although the sun has come out now. I think I'll take your advice, go and buy a six pack of Bulmer, get the hammock that's been used less than my bike out and laze in the garden with the butter dish.
:)
^ At least I haven't gotta pour my butter on:)

Here's the recipe that I use, titled 'Stilton Soup', though it's a leek and potato soup with stilton and cider added. Important, it's still cider, not carbonated. Stilton Soup with Parmesan Croutons | Recipes | Delia Online
^ i think your head would explode with proper scrumpy... that's a real drink.
One thing I have learned just. Stilton is fukking amazing. Blue cheese used to make me gag but this stuff is something else. I've used half the block in the soup and nearly finished the rest.
Looking at your uncultured haul of Red Leicester and Cathedral City your 'mates' dropped you off, you are missing out in a huge way:)
I wish I could let you suck my pinky finger right now

I'll just stick what's left in the butter dish.
It's a South facing house. Kitchen always in the shade and all that...
As for blending, I've looked everywhere and jut realised I don't even own a blender.

The one I have, around 1500 baht from Lazada, pretty handy for blending, whisking, and chopping of things like garlic and chillies, without having to use a full blown food processor.

Chunky soup works for me. Honestly considering how easy soup is to make I'm surprised folks dont make it more often.
Edith ordered me Mexican style pulled chicken wraps.
