Just back from a few days in Rome. Loads of great lunches, but it also takes me ages to upload pics, so here's a starter from the meal of the week.

You might have to bend your neck for some of these photos.

Cold cuts and cheeses with a bottle of the local Cesanese (the pecorino was obviously Roman, but the blue was from England!)

Amatriciana. Guanciale- wow. I used to just "get by" with bacon when cooking this or carbonara, but I'll never repeat that mistake again having tasted the proper gear.

    Carbonara.

And this dessert. Fucking hell. They have it for breakfast in Sicily, apparently.

    And what a great price.

The waiter and the rest of the staff were big Roma fans, so we were chatting away about football and I promised I'd be back...sadly never did do, but what a meal that was.

Had a couple of lunches at these local places over the next couple of days to keep the TEFL expenses in check...and for the true local day-to-day vibe.

Less than 7 Euros each for the menu completo with drinks and an espresso to finish. You couldn't get one meal in a British city centre for the price we paid for 2.

Nothing spells Fat Bastard like an 85 euro bill for a heap of processed meat, shitload of carbohydrates and a poncy dessert washed down by a bottle of plonk called del Pig

So far today you've been on about Nammers' meat, Snubby's meat, Mendy's meat and now my meat.

Is there something you would like to share with us, Dil?

And Ok, Ok, I can see that your heart is set... you can become an honourary Wurzel!

    A Manchester United supporting Wurzel.

You seem to be a bit mixed up, if you don't mid me saying.

And watch out for that Katy, it's strong stuff.

That was the second weakest on show. There was a Thatchers Vintage that was 8.2 or 4 but I think Henry is king of the vintages.

As for the Thatchers mainstream products, its a pretty poor show, they all seem to have jumped on the girly 4.0 bandwagon of fruity ciders

I bet you'd kill for 10 inches at hand right now?

Are those bee stings to remind you of your missus' tits before you got her them implants?

That Katy is a favourite of mine when on it big style. I tend to drink it in the privacy of my own home too to avoid potentially getting arrested/barred/bummed.

It's all about the guanciale and the pecorino.

Top forward for Juventus in the 80s was Fabrizio Guanciale and what a defender Massimo Pecorino was for AC Milan!

That is basically what it becomes, mate.

I'd imagine it gets a bit repetitive if you eat it every day though.

What say you, Snubs, you wanker?
