Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo, both 21, were arrested in October and "confessed" to the crimes, but later withdrew their statements saying they were tortured.

They were in Koh Samui provincial court to hear opening statements from the prosecution, a court official told DPA.

The defence requested that the case be postponed because they had had inadequate time to prepare.

Maybe the defense wanted it moved so they can organise a fat bribe to get the suspects bail, so they can dissapear and escape justice.

It wouldn't surprise me if that happened and they turned up in Uk seeking asylum

I. Their dna is said to match that found at the crime scene.
After they 'confessed' the police announced they were not looking for any more suspects. Surely they cannot be that daft, if there was still unmatched DNA?

reasons they might be innocent /
1. the police are often corrupt and unprofessional and it might be a cover up
or they did not commit the actual murders , but were part of a bigger gang.

2, they did not flee back to burma- but perhaps they did not understand dna , could not remember their night, or thought the AC bar owners had it all covered ?

The theory that he tied his owns hands behind his back to a degree that he could not use them again once the moment of truth had been passed is entirely dependent upon his knowledge of knots. If he had attained a level of seamanship then it is possible that he could tie a knot which could be tightened with dexterity and impossible to loosen.

Possibly a bow, half hitch, hornswoggler with a rabbit down the hole might do it but.....
