Interesting choice of hospitals chosen to take the DNA tests :

Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital,

Siriraj Hospital

Ramathibodee Hospital.

Not exactly your ordinary Thai hospitals. Very well connected hospitals indeed.

They might easily have got Bumrungrat or the Bangkok hospital involved but they went for three hospitals most respected by the establishment and sympathetic to the new government etc. They will find what is expected of them.

Not sure that's correct. According to the reports, Thailand did not have the capability to determine the race, and I remember clearly the gaff, " only the sex could be determined from the semen sample DNA .."hence initially asking for FBI help, then realizing Singapore was also able to assist, had them do it .

Semen found on the body of one of the two British tourists murdered on Koh Tao in Surat Thani province last Sunday will be examined in a Singapore laboratory, national police chief General Somyot Poompanmoung said yesterday.

Somyot said the DNA test would be able to identify the race, hair colour and skin colour of the person, which would help with the police investigation.

It is understood cigarette butts found at the crime scene will also be sent to Singapore for DNA analysis, although Somyot did not mention the butts in his remarks to reporters yesterday during a visit to the island.

Somyot had earlier said the authorities would ask the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation to conduct the test, as the police's Institute of Forensic Medicine's DNA test was capable of only identifying the sex.

Maybe there is a pair of locals (or young looking Burmese workers,,,,) , that hate westerners.

A MAN who was savagely glassed while backpacking in Koh Tao has spoken of his experience of being attacked on the holiday isle in the wake of this week’s double murder.


In May backpacker Simon Carter had been travelling around Thailand with four friends when he was randomly glassed by what he believes were two teenage locals.
Speaking to the JEP, Mr Carter said the unprovoked attack left him with an eight inch slash from his jaw to the top of his ear, but he knows it could have been a lot worse.

DNA match testing is performed by doing a large number of tests to prove a match. Once one of those tests fails, that's it; no match. So a fail to match can be very much faster than a proof of match.

That said, I think all outside observers have been suspicious since the original lead investigator was taken off the case after announcing an imminent arrest. The idea of Thais doing this after the initial press conferences would be an unspeakable loss of face.

I think the ex-head of the Military needs to put the head of Police firmly in his place if he wants Thailand to come out of this with only a bad whiff in the air. As for the tainted business on Koh Tao...I doubt it will recover, which is probably for the best.

A democratic Burma would offer so much more than the greedy shite-hole that has become the once beautiful offering of Thailand. Thank goodness there are still places where the average tourist is unlikely to be seen....

Burmese guys were smoking on the beach. No problem with that. Just as long as someone in Singapore (or someone in the chain) has not been paid a large sum to switch the samples. And as long as it is readily identifiable as DNA from sperm.

You might be right there though. Matching DNA from a cigarette which they do not refute, and then they compare NomSoB with the DNA from the smoke. I bet this is what they are doing. Took them a month to work that ruse out.

Her face was smashed beyond recognition, there was nothing left of it. I know it is a dirty word right now, but I read that they had to use DNA to get a positive ID. She was also posed with her knees up and feet underneath, near her backside also her legs were open and her breasts exposed. This act was most certainly carried out by a monster or monsters. David had a nasty wound to the back of his head, which was open like a flap and a stab wound under his jaw.
I think that is about right?
