Anyway, it's nice to see that Glenn Beck's latest idea is to compare health care reform with child rape:

I suppose it will surprise no one that these 'passionate Defenders of the Constitution' who constantly quote the 'Founding Fathers' don't know the first thing about what they are talking about. They don't even know the difference between the Pledge of Allegiance and the US Constitution.

A brilliant lampoon from The Onion (Amerka's finest news source) which describes the Faux faithful to a Tee :-

Area Man Passionate Defender Of What He Imagines Constitution To Be

ESCONDIDO, CA—Spurred by an administration he believes to be guilty of numerous transgressions, self-described American patriot Kyle Mortensen, 47, is a vehement defender of ideas he seems to think are enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and principles that brave men have fought and died for solely in his head.

"Our very way of life is under siege," said Mortensen, whose understanding of the Constitution derives not from a close reading of the document but from talk-show pundits, books by television personalities, and the limitless expanse of his own colorful imagination. "It's time for true Americans to stand up and protect the values that make us who we are."

According to Mortensen—an otherwise mild-mannered husband, father, and small-business owner—the most serious threat to his fanciful version of the 222-year-old Constitution is the attempt by far-left "traitors" to strip it of its religious foundation.

"Right there in the preamble, the authors make their priorities clear: 'one nation under God,'" said Mortensen, attributing to the Constitution a line from the Pledge of Allegiance, which itself did not include any reference to a deity until 1954. "Well, there's a reason they put that right at the top."

"Men like Madison and Jefferson were moved by the ideals of Christianity, and wanted the United States to reflect those values as a Christian nation," continued Mortensen, referring to the "Father of the Constitution," James Madison, considered by many historians to be an atheist, and Thomas Jefferson, an Enlightenment-era thinker who rejected the divinity of Christ and was in France at the time the document was written. "The words on the page speak for themselves."

According to sources who have read the nation's charter, the U.S. Constitution and its 27 amendments do not contain the word "God" or "Christ."

Mortensen said his admiration for the loose assemblage of vague half-notions he calls the Constitution has only grown over time. He believes that each detail he has pulled from thin air—from prohibitions on sodomy and flag-burning, to mandatory crackdowns on immigrants, to the right of citizens not to have their hard-earned income confiscated in the form of taxes—has contributed to making it the best framework for governance "since the Ten Commandments."

"And let's not forget that when the Constitution was ratified it brought freedom to every single American," Mortensen said.

Mortensen's passion for safeguarding the elaborate fantasy world in which his conception of the Constitution resides is greatly respected by his likeminded friends and relatives, many of whom have been known to repeat his unfounded assertions verbatim when angered. Still, some friends and family members remain critical.

"Dad's great, but listening to all that talk radio has put some weird ideas into his head," said daughter Samantha, a freshman at Reed College in Portland, OR. "He believes the Constitution allows the government to torture people and ban gay marriage, yet he doesn't even know that it guarantees universal health care."

Mortensen told reporters that he'll fight until the bitter end for what he roughly supposes the Constitution to be. He acknowledged, however, that it might already be too late to win the battle.

"The freedoms our Founding Fathers spilled their blood for are vanishing before our eyes," Mortensen said. "In under a year, a fascist, socialist regime has turned a proud democracy into a totalitarian state that will soon control every facet of American life."

"Don't just take my word for it," Mortensen added. "Try reading a newspaper or watching the news sometime."

Wow, that is serious . . . I didn't realise that 300 million people would just take that lying down and not use their armed militia to stop this evil fascist, socialist regime.

^^As brilliant as that is (and it's very good), my mirth is somewhat tempered by the fact that there is more than an element of truth to it. There are a lot of Kyle Mortensen's out there.

There are some fruits and nuts in the video as well as some seemingly normal people. At least they have the balls to show up and speak their mind. I know several Tea Part goers and they come from many different walks of life - some blue collar and some white collar folks. I know some doctors and nurses that go to protests and meetings. If I was there I would attend some to see what it was all about. I have some very strong opinions on welfare, government health care, inflated taxes, government waste and abortion.

Being involved is better than talking about it on the sidelines.

Not if you quite clearly have no idea what you're talking about or are basing it all on misconceptions, distortions or outright lies (as is the case in some of those in that video).

In that case, as the old saying goes, it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I know what the issues are.

The Dems are trying to change the country into more of a socialist country, like Europe. They want the government to gave more control, more money and be a more of a business than their intended purpose.

They look to undermine the core values that a majority of the citizens want and hey are out of touch with the thoughts, desires, and concerns of the majority of US citizens.

I do not know one person that wants a government controlled health care.

I do not know one person that wants gay marriages.

I have yet to meet one person that is for welfare.

I do not know one single person that wants the illegals to keep streaming in the into the US with no accountability.

I do not know one person that is for bigger government or a more intrusive government.

Heck, I do not know one person that supports the murdering of unborn children.

So why do the Dems push their agendas?

They are truly ultra left and look to please a sliver of society that agrees with them.

Seems to me you would do well to get out and meet more people then, extend your circle of friends and acquaintances.

Last I checked the Dems were in the Whitehouse and had a majority in Congress / Senate.

Is this a silent, non-voting, "majority of citizens" you're talking about?

Many of those that voted for Obama are saying he is not the man they voted for. Promising one thing and having another agenda is the MO of the Dems.

    yeah, that's what i thought.

Politicians in general, you mean. Because it's hardly the specialty or sole preserve of the Dems is it.

Unless you're one of the apparently increasing number of people that were in self-induced comas during the 8yrs of the Bush administration, awaking just in time to lay all of the nations ills at the feet of 'another' Dem lead govt.

BS!!!! Only unsuccessful people like yourself want hand outs.

But really, what kind of comments can expect from a smooth, soft school boy like yourself that has not made their own way in life. Those like yourself that never reach any real levels of achievement always would prefer to have the government stroke their needs for them!!

Call me Einstein all you want!! As I have said in the past, I must have done something right to be where I am today and a piece of paper had nothing to do with it!!

    Carry on loser!!!

Actually it is my son's and grand kids that I worry about. It is not today that the US will pay the piper but the future generations that will be digging us out of the excessive spending and welfare handouts that Obama is spawning.

I do not want my tax dollars going to comfort a bunch of layabouts. If I am going to give to charity, it will be one of my choice and one that deserves it.

Since when and why is a person's health in the realm of "hand outs"??

It is an objective, incontrovertible and verifiable fact that so-called 'socialised' healthcare systems are superior to the current US one. This can't be denied, so why are some people so intent on sticking their heads in the sand over it??

No job, no benefits, hands held out for money.

A bunch of able bodied men and women being lazy.

I have no problems with a person that is unable to work receiving government benefits.

I have a problem with a women claiming she is depressed and getting 1500 bucks a month to lay around and watch soaps on a 52' television.

I have a problem with baby makers getting $500 for each bundle of joy they squeeze out causing them to set a goal of having eight.

    Me? Retired?

Maybe in Frogland you can collect a pension in your early 40's but the earliest is in the US is 62.

I live off my investments and the sale of my businesses.
