Shepard Smith apologized for a "lack of balance" on a story aired during his Fox News show today. Reporter Shannon Bream was covering the campaign for governor in New Jersey when she snagged an interview with the Republican candidate Chris Christie, but when Smith asked her when she would interview the the Democratic candidate, and current Governor, Jon Corzine, Bream replied, "We have in multiple requests, and when it comes in, we'll let you know."
Smith was not happy to hear that: "Wow. I didn't know that was about to happen. My apologies for the lack of balance there. If I'd had control it wouldn't have happened."

Fox having been called on it's obvious bias I have no problem with, indeed it was the correct thing to do. Two of Fox' headline talk show hosts are Hannity and Beck, and then their is 'Fox and friends' and so on- there is no crime or disingenuity in declaring the obvious. The Right have been bleating about media bias for years, except in their case mostly nonsense- but some isn't. Now the moderates do, and the squeals of protest from the Fox crowd are amusing to behold.
The WH did declare the obvious- that not only 'We', but the majority of the People know exactly where they are coming from. It seems to have gotten the Fox crowd- both the insiders and the faithful Unwashed- in a tizzy. Thats good too. It will likely lead to some tightening of standards there overall.
But there is no 'war on Fox', and there is little point in having a war on Fox. They are their own caricature. MSNBC has Keith Olbermann- he can be provocative too, with a leftie slant. I suppose the Fox crowds vociferousness is psychologically manifesting their current powerlessness, the knowledge that they are sidelined. They have their right to vent, within the loose rein of laws that apply to slander and libel, and incitement to violence- which Beck, in particular, flirts somewhat- but so what, it's only Glen Beck. Hardly a visionary, hardly a formidable intellect. The only visionary that Fox has is the Dirty Digger- repeating the sensationalist appeal to disgruntlement that he was succesful with in print media.
I think Fox makes a fair point in differentiating their rabid commentators, and their more credible (albeit still biased) news reporting. Some of them are embarassed by the Hannity & Becks too, you can be sure. Shep Smith, as per the cut n paste above, is an example.
I think they should split that channel in two, one with boring news, and one with those funny commentators. Maybe they could share airtime with Cartoon Network or Comedy Central.
Unfortunately no. Lehrer was always a fav but no TV here. Several programs I would like to see via internet but Isaan internet to slow.Originally Posted by raycarey

Al Jazeera is quite good actually, staffed with former CNN reporters
definitely a good source of news,
Yes, but the mere name frightens off people of a particular persuasion . . . I mean, how can anything be unbiased that carries a Middle East name . . .
^ Thats why you can hardly even get Al Jazeera in the USA. It's ridiculous.
I'm a regular browser on their web site.
i don't know how slow the connection is in isaan, but you can download specific audio files from the broadcast that are usually about 6- 10 MB.

btw, i shouldn't have used 'watched' in my iniital post....i download the audio files...in fact, i don't even know if video is available.
That's the whole problem. The libbies will not give Fox interviews. The libbies run away.
Hey, and how about this libbie Grayson calling a chick a whore?

You must be joking? 'News Hour' with Jim Leher is about the most dry, boring crap even presented live let alone downloading some files to watch second-hand. They shouldn't let liberals out of their respective countries to infect the local population...
...in fact, there should be a bounty on them![]()

So what are you saying here, any one with a conservative view, should be shot in the head?
I find it really amusing that you people who call Fox news nothing more than a right wing propaganda machine, seem to think that anyone who does not agree with your particular ideas should be shot in the head. Do you think you are so superior that only your ideas are good.
How about each to his own, why don't do away with anything that is in opposition to your thinking, I think not!, we all have the right to hear all sides of things and decided for ourselves the good and bad of it.
You're casting a very wide net there . . .Originally Posted by RPETER65

Last time I checked people were free to beleive as they see fit, which is exactly why that individual has the freedom to express his opinion, but not the right to suggest we kill the opposition, as long as they present there points in a non violent manner.

there's a video (with Jon Stewart) on the page/link above that tells you all you need to know about FOX
yeah, imagine that. someone posting a link to what an entertainer thinks about a political issue.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

certainly no more partisan than the crap you link to: worldnetdaily, newsbusters, fox, etc....Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon
It's definitely ethnic.
If Obama had been dressed in white coat with a stethoscope around his neck like a western doctor, would that have been racist?
Oh, Derrida, it seems that the real problem is the bigotry of leftists who upon having their outrage deconstructed are shown to have a very low and dismissive opinion of African traditional medicine.
I suggest leftists get in touch with their own racism. Make yourselves aware of it, digest it and then strengthen yourselves through self-criticism.
atta just comes across as another racist,
is he American ? then that's settle it then![]()

Thing is, Obamacare IS coming soon to a clinic near you.
And he's POTUS, and he controls both houses of Congress.
So who's got a bone through their nose now??![]()
While I agree that the photo is racist, was it necessary to answer a racist post with another potentially racist (or distinctly anti-American) post? I'd say your slip is showing.
As far as left vs. right goes, I've found that in actuality there is little difference between the two. Both wish to curtail civil liberties, members of both parties belong to the same club. Both sides are not "ultra-conservative" or "socialist", they are simply "elitists". I'm neither Republican nor Democrat, rather I'm an independent and vote my conscience not any party line. My only serious problem with Obama is his lack of experience and being from Chicago, the fact that he was a Chicago pol. But those concerns are negated by the simple fact that it matters very little who holds the presidency. The president can only "suggest" policy, his powers are rather limited. In truth it's the other 455 members of the combined house and senate that write laws and determine policy. The presidency has long been a scapegoat for their poor decisions. The president is only a puppet of his party.
