    War on Terrorism

Another Failure in the War on Terrorism

    By Mark Noonan

The hits keep on coming - how much more bad news can we take?
BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) -- When she was a child growing up in Afghanistan, Nadima Sahar loved to draw. But after the Taliban came to power in the 1990s, her love for art became a secret. The strict Islamic movement banned art and secular music, so only Sahar's family knew about her drawings.
"I couldn't share them with my neighbors," Sahar said.
Today, after four years as a college student in Rhode Island, Sahar has showcased her mostly abstract, black-and-white drawings at four art competitions and won prizes in all of them.

Sahar is one of three women graduating from Roger Williams University on Saturday who came to the United States as part of a scholarship program started after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan following Sept. 11.
What a miserable, disgusting thing to have happen...for crying out loud, how can we paint the whole war as a failure with this sort of thing going on? This must be part of some nefarious, Rovian plot....or Haliburton...or maybe even Likud....

Conservatives fundamentalists (aka SK and the other Faux news drones) are religious freaks who believe in absolution, that is a good action that will pardon all their bad actions. Funny isn't it ?

I bet they also believe in Free Market and its Invisible Hand

Not to mention the Tooth Fairy

    The so-called War on Terror:

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any
    country."

    Reichsmarshall Hermann Goering, Nuremberg

There has never been a War on Terror.

You can't wage "war" against an abstract phenomenon.

Al-Qaeda is an organization comprised of individuals. The response by the U.S. was to attack and overthrow nation-states. (I agree that Afghanistan was culpable in their support and assistance.)

But the rest of this new "War on Something" is an old political trick to gain support from the masses, and allow those with ulterior motives to achieve what they want to achieve.

Watch the "Power Of Nightmares", that guy from the BBC summarized it pretty well. Government can't sell dreams like they used to (free healthcare etc...) so now they are selling nightmare scenarios (protection against evil, war on terror etc...)

It's one big scam to "entertain" the masses while the elite enjoy their free ride of their abuses and incompetence

I have yet to see you discuss any issues, just throw poor insults at people who have opinions that differ with yours.

Astound us all and let us know what your opinions are on 'The War on Terrorism' and show us why the likes of Storekeeper are wrong, please.

    I will second Marmites opinion,

But I am not referring to Butterfly.

I am referring to many of us, including me.

In the "Issues" subjects I think we should focus on our arguments and try to stay on the issues and debate them, and be specific and back up what we say.

We should avoid getting too general and abstract.

We should not get personal start cutting each other down - this ruins the debate.

There seems to be a lot of generalizations made without posters' adding their own opinion on what they are posting about in these debates.

Again, I'm not referring to Butterfly.

But I agree with Marmites point.
