You're a good bird Begbie so I won't spit venom at you. Surasak knows exactly what I'm talking about and he is one of my rabid fans who ignored the question ... only Milkman bothered to acknowledge.
The Syrians assassinated a Christian who was the President elect about 20 years ago now.. Check it out. It's very possible that Lebanon would be just like Egypt and Jordan right now if not for the Syrians ... meaning at total peace with Israel.
You also conveniently forget about Christian assassinations of past leaders in Lebanon? The shit stinks on both sides of the fence there.
From Wikipidia ... interesting:
Lebanon is a republic in which the three highest offices are reserved for members of specific religious groups:
This arrangement is part of the "National Pact" (Arabic: الميثاق الوطني - al Mithaq al Watani), an unwritten agreement which was established in 1943 during meetings between Lebanon's first president (a Maronite) and its first prime minister (a Sunni), although it was not formalized in the Lebanese Constitution until 1990, following the Taif Agreement. The pact included a promise by the Christians not to seek French protection and to accept Lebanon's "Arab face", and a Muslim promise to recognize independence and legitimacy of the Lebanese state in its 1920 boundaries and to renounce aspirations for union with Syria. This pact was thought at the time to be an interim compromise, necessary until Lebanon formed its own sense of a national identity. Its continued existence and the fallout from subsequent civil wars continue to dominate politics in Lebanon.
- the President must be a MaroniteCatholicChristian.
- the Prime Minister must be a Sunni Muslim, and
- the Speaker of the Parliament must be a Shi'a Muslim.
President-elect of Lebanon Bashir Gemayel ...asassinated in 1982.
And how about the recent assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri ?
Don't you dare tell me the Christians are preventing Lebanon from being at peace with Israel.
It's the Iranians and Syrians plain and simple.
In a Parliamentary system who has more power? President or Prime Minister?
I asked you a question and you've followed it up with two or three questions.
Milkman hasn't replied in over 4 pages. What are you babbling about now? Which question? The fact that Christians started the civil war because they were afraid of Muslims becoming a majority (which they did through natural birth rates)?
We don't know because there hasn't been a census in over 70 years.
Yesertday you were so confident and articulate. Today you can't answer a question without throwing back 2,3,4, questions and making subtle personal attacks![]()
But finally admit you just don't know. Thank you. Stand at ease now sandcrab.
What was the question? Are you even on the right thread? Because this:
throws me off considering Milkman hasn't replied in this thread recently.Surasak knows exactly what I'm talking about and he is one of my rabid fans who ignored the question ... only Milkman bothered to acknowledge.
There was also a civil war (started by Christians) and the affluent Christians left while Muslims continued to grow through population growth. Assassinations of both Christian and Muslim leaders have taken place, so, don't go off about one group being more violent than the other.
Fact is due to the religious divisions in the country nobody has conducted a census to avoid inflaming issue.
I gave you two examples of assassinations. Where are yours?
Mossad job. Thanks for playing.Originally Posted by Storekeeper

President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Iranian ambassador, and whispered back, "It's because it takes place in the future."

You make the guy sound like Jesus Christ, Jr.
You of course conveniently failed to mention that in the eyes of most Lebanese (Christian and Muslim) that he was an Israeli collaborator, traitor to his country, the leader of several deadly militias, and, that he wasn't the only one killed in the assassination.
Just soon afterwards this took place:
Sabra and Shatila massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Which we all know was Christian reprisal (you know, those good, peaceful Christians who would never ever kill a soul) which resulted in an unknown death toll all the while Israeli troops stood by and did nothing (or, perhaps, knowingly did nothing).
Nice try though, you almost made it look like Bachir Gemayel was just some peace-loving Christian; an innocent bystander killed by a raging mob of suicide bombers shouting "Allah Akbar."
In America, good Christians burn Abortion Clinics and kill the doctors in those clinics. That's how Christian they are.
christians also protest at the funerals of soldiers who died in iraq.
excuse me?Five women sang and danced as they held up signs saying "thank God for dead soldiers" at the funeral of an army sergeant who was killed by an Iraqi bomb. For them, it was the perfect way to spread God's word: America was being punished for tolerating homosexuality.
>>>snip<<<
The fringe group of fire and brimstone Baptists from Kansas has been courting controversy for more than 15 years, traveling the country with their hateful signs and slogans.
what? what's that you say?
they are only a small minority and they don't represent the opinions of all christians? and it's absurd to assume they represent all 1 billion christians worldwide?
oh.
